As some of you know, I’m in a major financial bind. I was in and out of the hospital last year and am a full time college student. Since I used all my savings on medical bills (and still owe upwards of $2,000), I have no money for food or school supplies (books mainly). Even if you can’t donate, if you could reblog, I would appreciate it immensely! My venmo is @/tumbleweedfarmer
Oil cleansing
Oil cleansing is a form of skin cleaning, it can moisturize dry skin, hydrate oily skin, and help clear acne. You can do purely oil for cleansing and moisturizing, or just for cleansing. I've noticed a big difference in the texture of my skin as well as an improvement in the dryness
Oils I recommend: olive oil, grapeseed oil, and hemp seed oil, plus tea tree oil mixed with any of the others for acne prone skin.
How to use oil to take off makeup/cleanse skin
Have a soft, clean washcloth on hand.
Start massaging the oil onto the skin
Soak your washcloth with warm water and wipe the oil off, try to use only a small section so you can do this process as much as necessary to take off makeup.
Optional: use another washcloth to steam your face after you cleaned it, by soaking it in warm water and patting it onto your face.
Moisturizing
massage a small amount of the oil into your skin (if you want to use tea tree oil, put a small amount with another oil)
You can use another moisturizer if you want
Morning cleansing
Use lukewarm water to rinse your face
Do the same moisturizing routine as previously mentioned, and let it soak in before patting your face to remove excess oil
Personal Hygiene Made Simple-
🌷If you can’t be bothered to actually shower, just wash the smelly areas, like your feet, armpits and genital area.
🌷Dry shampoo could save your hair for up to a week.
🌷Brushing your teeth is super important, twice a day if possible.
🌷Remember to scrub your tongue, it’s what causes most bad breath issues.
🌷If you don’t want to cut your nails, make sure you scrub them and get all the dirt out from under them.
🌷Antibacterial hand gel is worth carrying around.
🌷If you’re not up to actually washing your face, makeup wipes/wet wipes will do just fine.
🌷Don’t just use spray deodorant, roll on is important and usually lasts longer.
How to Create a Positive Impression
1. Smile: People who smile are viewed as being warmer and friendlier individuals.
2. Be easy to impress, or to make laugh and smile: Others also worry about how people see them. If they think that they’re succeeding, then they’ll like you even more.
3. Show interest and liking through your use of body language: Face the person, look them in the eye when you’re talking, and show you are friendly through your open body stance (uncrossed arms and legs etc.)
4. Remember the power of transfer traits: Basically, that means that if you say nice things about other people, they assume you’ll say nice things about them, too … Or if you criticise others, then you’ll criticise them, too.
5. Poke fun at yourself: It makes you seem more human and approachable.
6. Remember the power of emotional contagion: That means that others tend to pick up the emotions we project. So, if you seem laid back, warm, happy and relaxed then those you are with will start to feel the same way, too.
7. Remember the name and few basic facts about the person you are talking to: Such as their job, college major, favourite hobby, favourite food, places they have been to or awards they have received.

how to write that 17-page essay that’s high-key giving you anxiety
so it’s 4am and you’ve had three cups of coffee but you’ve only written two sentences. you look at the prompt and find it has ceased to make sense. “how the fuck am i gonna turn this into a 17-page paper” you ask.
never fear! your friendly neighborhood college fuckup is here with an answer. buckle down and get another cup of coffee; you’re in this for the long haul. (literally. this post got long because i’m apparently incapable of writing short posts, but i also pulled a 3.9 cGPA using this method so i’d say it’s worth the read.)
first, a cheat: email your professor and ask if you can use subheaders. subheaders eliminate the need for smooth transitions between portions of your argument and also create a ton of white space, which can help you reach page count.
second, a tip: don’t be afraid to meet with your prof. this essay probably isn’t a take-home exam; it’s likely that your prof set this paper to give you a chance to learn and write about something you enjoy. shoot your prof an email saying “hey, this is what i’m thinking, this is what i’m struggling with, can i meet with you to talk it out?” 9 times out of 10, your prof will say yes. if they say no, talk to another prof in the same discipline. otherwise talk to your uni writing center or a friend of yours. worse come to worst, shoot me a message.
what you’re gonna do now is outline the fuck out of your paper to procrastinate actually writing it.
step 1: take apart the prompt. it’ll be asking for a few different things; mark these things with different cues: brackets, underlining, different colored pens, whatever. this structures your response.
if you don’t know your thesis yet, that’s fine! let it develop naturally as you conduct your research and plan your argument. you can change it as you go - that’s the point of researching the topic. no one will know what your first draft thesis was.
step 2: look at the dismembered prompt. write bullets with brief explanations for how you’ll attack each part of the prompt. these can be detailed or as vague as “look up that one reading and use it as a counter argument.” then figure out the best way to organize the bullets. if nothing makes sense, that’s fine too. you can write each chunk of your argument and structure it later.
these bullets make good subheaders. js.
step 3: under each bullet from step 2, list out what info and evidence you need for that aspect of your argument. don’t worry about details yet; focus on structure. write these bullets as though you’re talking to a friend about what your argument is and why is works. let it be stupid. let it be simple. say shit like “freud was a bitch and i can prove it.”
step 4: now that you have a rough draft of your outline, go back and fill in the details. remember, you’re still outlining! you’re basically redoing step 3 with the bullets you made in step 3. this is the part where i take the most time and put in the most effort.
i tend to reach page/word count easily if my outline is half the length the paper needs to be, so i keep outlining until i reach that point. this ratio might be different for you. if you can figure out your ratio, it can tell you if you need to look for more info or if you’re good to go.
make a note of what you’re citing but don’t worry about actual citations. i like using gdocs because you can easily paste a link to your source in a comment. this way, the sources don’t clutter up your doc or artificially inflate your page or word count.
be silly! be stupid! use swear words and memes and internet lingo. you’re just outlining right now; you don’t need to sound smart and professional. you should be focusing on what you want to say, not how to say it.
by the end of this process, my outline is basically my paper in bulletpoint format, without any fancy jargon or quotes or cited evidence, and usually not in complete sentences. i’ve essentially tricked myself into writing my paper by saying “i’m just outlining, it doesn’t really matter.” it’s also less daunting to write the rest of the paper when you know you already have 9 pages done instead of 0.
step 5: write the damn thing! open a fresh doc for your paper and view it side-by-side with your outline. now you get to make your bullets sound pretentious and academic. insert quotes and other evidence. turn “freud was a bitch” into “freud knowingly perpetuated several falsehoods for the sake of his personal gain, thereby undoing decades of progress in the field of psychology.”
don’t worry about citations right now, though! do what you did in your outline and insert the citations as comments at the points where they need to be. creating citations will interrupt your flow.
step 6: once your paper is done, go back and add citations! this can take up to an hour depending on how many sources you have, so budget your time appropriately.
holy shit! you just wrote a whole damn paper! i’m proud of you, buddy. go buy yourself a milkshake and take a nap.
🎒Backpacks 101🌻
Essentials for Class
Your laptop/spirals/tablet/your preferred note-taking medium. For professors that speak quickly and cover a lot of information in a short amount of time before moving on to the next slide, I always like to use my laptop. Some professors prohibit the use of laptops (even for note-taking). So, I like to use a cheap spiral for class in which I will write information/graphics with the knowledge that they don’t have to be perfect. This is just to ensure that I get the information down. When I get home I transfer all of the notes into a nicer spiral to look over later. This also works to help me retain the information!
My all-time favorite spiral notebooks are the Exceed Five Subject Notebooks. I love these because in the front they have a world map, a punctuation chart, a metric unit conversion chart, spelling rules, a ruler, and a glossary of general reference and research sites.
Loose-leaf paper. This is especially helpful for me because many of my professors will give pop-quizzes/pop-writing assignments. Also great for when a classmate needs to borrow some paper. You can whip it out and make a friend for all semester.
Personally, I like to use Five Star Reinforced Filler Paper by Mead.
Pencil Bag. Naturally, not having to frantically dig around your backpack for a pen/pencil/highlighter makes your day go so much smoother.
I prefer the Mead Five Star Organizer Pencil Pouch.
My pencil bag comes complete with an assortment of pens, pencils, highlighters, two flash drives, a pencil sharpener, and an entire 50 pack of Crayola Super Tips. Yes, my pencil bag fits that much.
Laptop charger & phone charger. I recommend purchasing a powerblock as well to ensure that you don’t have to compete over the use of limited outlets. Thousands of college students across the nation fail to charge their electronics nightly, don’t get caught in the crossfires of that feeding frenzy.
Headphones. Something about not having my music while I’m on the bus or walking across campus really kills my mood for the day.
My planner! Stop writing stuff on your hand or on random pieces of paper. Get yourself a cheap planner. Even if you are not a planner user right now, just forcing yourself to use one for 30 days will forge an unbreakable and life-changing habit! Take it from me.
To Make Your Day Easier
A small umbrella for those days when the weather goes from 75′ and sunny to raining cats and dogs in 3 seconds.
A wallet with your IDs and change. I always kick myself when I didn’t have enough change for the vending machines on campus. I kick myself even harder when I have to ask random strangers for 50 cents to buy a scantron/blue book. Also just a good idea to always have some form of ID on you.
Water bottle. Invest in a super cool, trendy, refillable water bottle to keep yourself hydrated throughout the day. Or just keep refilling the same plastic one.
Deodorant. This is so silly but I am always forgetting to put on deodorant before I walk out the door and I’m 22. When I get to class I realize I’ve forgotten and panic as the Texas heat encompasses me. Travel-sized deodorants are so beneficial.
An emergency tampon/pad. Or two!!! Goes without saying. Surprises are always fun until it’s your period. I keep emergency tampons in my truck, in my apron for work, in my backpack, in my horse trailer. I do not play around.
Ibuprofen/Aspirin
Light snacks. We’re talking a granola bar or seven to keep your stomach from gurgling when you’re taking that exam and of course everyone showed up to class.
A flashdrive.
Chapstick, sunscreen, or lotion can also make you more comfortable sitting in class.
Quick Tips About Backpacks
While, yes, those little fashionable ones are cute, they don’t hold the essentials and can be damaging to your back, causing soreness and discomfort. Buying a Jansport absolutely saved my back and stopped my chronic pain from progressing!
Obviously there are hundreds of amazing brands of backpacks out there, but I strongly urge you to purchase a bag with:
a sleeve inside for your laptop
at least three pockets - so everything has a place
those little mesh side pockets
adjustable (preferably PADDED) shoulder straps!
Another thing! I always place my heavier items (laptop & textbooks) CLOSEST to my back. That way the weight doesn’t drag you down backwards and cause back pain (my doctor literally told me this). This is where having multiple pockets is so helpful.
Adjust your shoulder straps so that you can also maintain good posture while walking. The weight of your backpack + where it sits on your back should not cause you to lean forward or sway backwards in order to compensate. Also fun fact - when I was in middle school I thought it was cool to have a backpack that hung really low (?) and it created a pinched nerve in my neck! Awesome! Don’t be like me!
Remember that backpacks -while they can absolutely be super cute and trendy- are meant to possess functionality. Your backpack should carry the essentials you need to have a successful and comfortable day at class.
Lastly, 10/10 would recommend cleaning out your backpack frequently! Make sure it stays organized and free of clutter. I also like to make sure I take all of my spirals and planner out of my backpack each day after class so that after I rest for a bit - I know I have things I need to get to.
Organizing Your Backpack - By Pockets
-Largest pocket (closest to your back):
Heavier items such as your laptop, binders, textbooks, loose leaf paper and planner. Laptop should go inside the sleeve (if applicable).
-Second largest pocket
Items such as your pencil bag, chargers, and umbrella.
-Smallest pocket
Items that you won’t be pulling in and out too frequently, such as headphones, deodorant, chapstick, a flashdrive, snacks, wallet, keys, painkillers, and your emergency tampons (if applicable).
-Side pockets
Here I obviously like to keep my water bottle or coffee thermos. If you have more than one pocket this is also a great place to keep your little umbrella.
Happy studying, realistic students!
Grounding
WHAT IS GROUNDING?
Grounding is a set of simple strategies to detach from emotional pain for example (cravings, self harm urges, emotional eating behaviour etc.) Grounding can also be a way of returning your attention to the outside world and away from yourself. In the case of dissociation.
WHY PRACTICE GROUNDING TECHNIQUES?
When you are overwhelmed with emotional pain, you need a way to detach so that you can gain control over your feelings and stay safe. As long as you are grounding, you are more likely to be able to overcome urges. Grounding ‘anchors’ you to reality.
Many people with PTSD and dissociative disorders struggle with either feeling too much (overwhelming emotions and memories) or too little (numbing and dissociation). In grounding, you attain balance between the two—conscious of reality and ability to tolerate it.
GUIDELINES:
§ Grounding can be done any time, anywhere and no one has to know.
· § Use grounding when you are: faced with a trigger, having a flashback or dissociating.
· § Keep your eyes open, look around the room, and make sure the light is good to stay in touch with the present.
· § Rate your mood before and after to test whether it worked. Before grounding, rate your level of
· § emotional pain, or your level of dissociation. Then re-rate it afterwards. Has it gone down?
· Try not to make judgements or think negatively. The idea is to distract from the negatives.
· § Stay neutral—no judgments of good or bad.
· § Focus on the present, not the past or future.
· § Grounding is much more active than relaxation exercises and focuses your attention.
Grounding is deemed to be a better way of coping with PTSD and dissociative disorders than relaxation practice. As during relaxation the focus is too much within the body, which at the worst may bring on flashbacks.
WAYS TO GROUND
MENTAL GROUNDING
o ♣ Describe to yourself in detail your surroundings: For example “The walls are white, there are three pink chairs and a blue sofa. There is a picture of a brown border collie on the wall with a gold frame around it.” You can do this out loud if appropriate, or in your head if you are in public.
o ♣ Play a game like “Scattergories” in your head or with a friend or family member. Choose a letter of the alphabet and try and come up with as many examples of a category you choose as you can. For example C … Boys names: Christopher, Curtis, Carl, Charles etc.
o ♣ Do an age progression. IThis can be particularly useful if you have dissociated or regressed to a younger alter or state. For example in my experiences I have an alter who is three. So I might say… Now I am four, I am at home with Mummy and Daddy and I can do (an example of an age appropriate activity) alone. Work your way up until you are back to your current age. This may not always work for little alters, but can help.
o ♣ Describe an everyday activity in great detail. For example if you like gardening “I open the shed door and pull out the lawn mower, I connect it to a power supply and climb on. I turn the key and put it into drive….”
o ♣ Imagine. For example make up a nice little story in your head, or out loud. “I am putting some roller skates on, and I am slowly gliding away from all my emotional suffering down a beautiful smooth lane, having fun listening to my favourite music LOUD!”
o ♣ Say a safety statement. ‘My name is _________; I am safe right now. I am in the present, not the past. I am in _____________ the date is _____________.
· ♣ Read something, saying each word to yourself. Or read each letter backwards so that you focus or the letters and not on the meaning of words.
· ♣ Use humour: For example have a “Funny Memory Bank” where you store up your favourite witty moments for those detached, rainy days.
· ♣ Count to 100 or say the alphabet very slowly or very fast.
· ♣ Repeat something meaningful to yourself, such as a prayer or quote. For example you could use the Serenity Prayer.
PHYSICAL GROUNDING
û Run cool or warm water over your hands.
û Grab tightly onto your chair as hard as you can.
· û Touch various objects around you: a pen. keys, your clothing, the table, the walls. Pay close attention to colours, weights, textures etc.
· û Firmly stamp your feet on the floor, literally grounding yourself. Feel the tension of your feet against the pressure of the floor.
· û Carry a ground object in your pocket—a small object such as a rock, stone, crystal, bead, piece of string or cloth, or a stress ball that you can touch whenever you feel triggered.
· û Jump up and down.
· û Stretch reach upwards and pull yourself tall. Extend your arms, legs, fingers and toes.
· û Walk slowly, noticing each footstep.
· û Eat something yummy. Notice the flavours, textures and feelings that come up for you.
SOOTHING GROUNDING
· ♥ Use Cheerleading statements, as if you were talking to a small child. For example “You are having a difficult time adjusting to these chanes, but you are doing so well. You should be proud of yourself.”
· ♥ Think of favorites. Think of your favorite color, animal, season, food, time of day, TV show.
· ♥ Picture people you care about. Even get a photobook made of positive pictures or pictures of people you love! Such a simple nice way to ground, and you can get A4 photo books at the moment from GroupOn for under £7!! (I in no way endorse them I just thought it was a good offer!)
· ♥ Remember the words to an inspiring song, quotation or poem that you like or feel positively about. Maybe write out the words and decorate it for your wall.
· ♥ Remember a safe place. Describe a place that you find very soothing it could be when you went on holiday to the beach, or walking in the woods. Or just a time you felt safe and peaceful at home in your living room or in bed.
· ♥ Plan out a safe treat for yourself, such as a trip to a coffee shop with a friend, making a nice dinner or a bath with some nice toiletries or candles if you feel safe to use them
· ♥ Think of things you are looking forward to in the next week. Perhaps schedule your time so you build some structure for chores and pleasurable activities. It can help to know what you are doing and also not just sit at home with nothing to do. This can cause difficulties.
WHAT IF GROUNDING DOESN’T WORK?
♠ Practice as often as possible. Even when you don’t feel overwhelmed or dissociative. This way it will come more naturally to you when you are struggling.
♠ Practice faster. Speeding up the pace gets you focused on the outside world quickly. ♠ Try grounding for a Ioooong time 20 mins at least, and then repeat !! ♠ Try to notice whether you do better with physical or mental or soothing grounding.
♠ Create your own methods of grounding. Any method you make up may be worth much more than those you read here because it is yours.
♠ Start grounding early in a negative mood cycle. Start when you begin to feel the early warning signs of dissociation or when you have just started having a flashback.

This help you get started on preparing. Don’t be scared, you got this!
It’s 37 °C (98,6 °F) outside and me and my north european genes are not coping.
As a Midwestern American, some tips!
1. Drink plenty of water. If you’re thirsty, you’re already dehydrated.
2. If you can get you hands on a spray bottle, fill it with cold water and spritz yourself regularly.
3. Wet washcloths, freeze them, and then put them on the back of your neck and chest to help cool off.
4. Cold showers.
5. If you can get a cheap box fan, they will help!
6. How to make a swamp cooler; fill a bucket with ice, set a fan behind it to blow the ice air around.
Stay safe over there!
7. If you don’t wanna take a really cold shower, even a lukewarm shower will help cool you off afterward because of the water evaporating from your skin!
8. In addition to putting cold stuff on the back of your neck, another good spot to put something cold to cool your body effectively is your crotch. If no one’s gonna be looking at you, get a water bottle full of ice and hold it between your thighs near your crotch for a while.
9. Just like when you’re icing an injury, be careful with ice packs/towels/water bottles–don’t put anything icy against your bare skin, and do fifteen minutes on and fifteen minutes off. Take care not to fall asleep with an ice pack on you!
Your armpits are another good place for cold packs. These spots all have major arteries not far below the skin, so you can cool the blood flowing through them before it’s transported throughout the rest of the body.
Also if you’re out in the sun you may actually want to cover up rather than leave your skin exposed. Sunburn is a huge risk (even if you have darker skin btw!!! Melanin can only do so much!) and even with sunscreen every inch of exposed skin is absorbing heat from the sun. Wear light-colored clothing (which reflects heat rather than absorbing it) that is breathable and loose-fitting to allow air to circulate to aid evaporation of sweat from your skin (which is how it cools you).
Water is your top priority, but sweating also can deplete your salt reserves (literally your body excretes water through your pores by pumping out salt ions which draw water out with them. Science!). You MUST have adequate electrolytes, particularly sodium, potassium, and chloride, which are required for your brain cells to work, among other things. Gatorade and Powerade are full of sugar but the electrolytes in them sure don’t hurt anything (but drink plain water as well if you can).
You can also eat fruits and vegetables with high water content. Grapes can be frozen for a cold treat that’s a little healthier than popsicles. Although, shit, if it takes popsicles and ice cream to keep you cool then fucking go for it, I’m not your mom.

The Perfect Sugar Date
Though, I have only been a Sugar Baby for two months I have mastered the art of a perfect date. Regardless, if I hated the man or the date he enjoys himself and wants to see me again. Here are some tips to make you the ideal woman.
1. No phone on the table: It should be in your purse and the purse should not be on the table but the back of the chair.
2. Voice: Speak clearly and give direct eye contact. Older men are observant and seek clarity. If you don’t know what you are talking about, do not talk about it because he will ask you to explain yourself.
3. Expression: Embrace your personality. When I like something or feeling hyper I smile. This is a quirky habit but POTs love it. I smile when I read the menu and I usually hear “Get whatever you want baby.”
4. Attire: It is not about what you wear it’s how you wear it. Iron or steam all your clothes. It is torn, stained, bleached don’t wear it. If you have fix your outfit every 5 minutes, don’t wear it.
5. Perfume: Don’t take a shower with your perfume. One or two spritz. Don’t be that female in the restaurant who is killing people’s noses due to spraying Bed&BathBodyWorks Japanese Blossom from head-to-toe.
6. Show Gratitude: Anything he does youlook at him straight in the eye and say “Thank you.” Make him feel valued and appreciated. I tend to say “Thank you for taking the time to meet me” and in the end while he is paying the check “Thank you.” That s**t turns men on. I say “Thank you Papi” to my SD and he responds “ You’re worth it.”
Relaxing Things To Do
Drawing. If you’re too afraid to just start, look up tutorials online or buys books like You Can Draw in 30 days. Stores like Michaels have a supply of books that teach you how to draw practically everything.
Painting. Similarly to drawing, how to books for painting are everywhere for every type of paint, from watercolor to oil.
Singing. There’s something amazing about being able to just sing a song you love. Make a habit of playing music aloud and singing to it, whether it’s when you’re cleaning, driving or in the bath.
Coloring. Adult coloring books are the bomb, and don’t ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
Candlelit baths. Buy some candles for your bathroom, get bath salts and oils and take a long candlelit bath.
Listening to music. Play music aloud in your room, listen to slower, more relaxed music and let yourself enjoy it.
Talk on the phone. Call a friend, lay on your bed and just have a long conversation with them.
Go visit your mom/do something with her if you’re still at home. Moms are amazing. Tell your mom what’s up in your life, your worries, your gossip. Vent to her..
Dance. Let yourself be goofy in your house. Nobody is watching, just dance.
Read. Go to the library and buy yourself a good book that you can lose yourself to.
Sit in the shade. Go outside and just enjoy being there.
Walk or jog. Being outside is very calming. Get some shoes on and go.
Makeup. Watch tutorials and try something completely new. Try SFX if you’ve always wanted to.
Paint your nails.
Take a nap.
Cook something new. Find a recipe, buy the ingredients or make sure you have the right ingredients and take your time making sure its done well. Let yourself enjoy the process.
Clean your room. When there’s no pressure, organizing and cleaning your room can be pretty calming, especially if you’ve got some good music to help you.
Try photography. Learn a new method of photography, either for self or otherwise and practice it.
Watch TED talks. Not only are they amazing sources of information, but, they are inspiring too and will leave you feeling ready to conquer the world.
Watch music videos from your childhood. There’s nothing like taking a trip down memory lane.
Go for a drive. If you live close enough to the country, just drive without having a destination in mind.
Look at the stars. They are beautiful. Bring a blanket outside and just allow yourself to feel peace.
Try yoga. Even if you’re about as flexible as a dry stick, practice will get you there. It’s amazing to see what our bodies can actually do if we give them the chance.
Redecorate your room or plan how you’ll decorate it when you have the chance. Think about shelves, succulents, bed covers, photos, candles etc.
Order a pizza and watch your old favorite movies with friends.
Write in your journal.
Try a DIY.
Make boards on Pinterest.
Ask friends to suggest movies, books, music and tv shows to you and try their suggestions out when you have the time.

How to start a blog🤳🏼
Hey everyone! I thought I would share with you guys who are thinking about or just now starting a blog some tips and tricks(:
🌴Decide on your platform. I highly recommend tumblr because although it’s not exactly your own website or anything, it helps you get in contact with people and will most likely grow far more quickly than if it was on your own single platform.
🌴Decide on the type of content you plan on covering. You don’t exactly have to find your niche right away, just post about what you love and eventually you will find something that you’re really good at.
🌴Ask for help. Don’t feel ashamed of messaging people on your platform or even your friends to check it out or spread the word(:
🌴Make sure you stick to it! Don’t let it be just another unfinished project. Have determination. My blog grew faster than most people’s but even if it didn’t I knew I had to keep persisting until I got what I wanted.
🌴Think about connecting it to all of your social medias! This might help you stick to it more.
🌴If you have any specific questions, feel free to message me! I would absolutely love to help any of you(:
