So yesterday I made it off of the island and in to the city. Cities trip me out most of the time. But then there's those magic moments where you check out the studio of your dreams (@raincityrecorders) when they just so happen to be recording your favourite band's new record (@livingwithlions) and you somehow get to listen to songs that no one else has heard. Those moments are worth writing home about. Big ups to @chase_head and Stu for making my year; you guys seriously have no idea how awesome that record is going to be.

This is me and Garrett. I met him on my first night in Tofino, and the last night of my tour. I had just driven to the end of the road, literally. Jamie's Inn was packed, the brews were flowing and my first set went smooth. Garrett came in for my second set and greeted me with a big smile and a hug and started asking me if I played certain songs from my set yet, I was so surprised that in a tiny town on the furthest western coast of Canada someone knew my set list and was stoked to listen. After the show we made plans to surf later that week, he's now one of my favourite people in this town, and we surf whenever our jobs allow us to. Fuck 'fans' I make music for friends, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

The other night I had the pleasure of playing for Friends of Clayquot Sound's community space opening. There were so many enthusiastic people who are striving to keeping this part of the world as beautiful as it is, and it's incredibly inspiring. The Tla-o-qui-aht performance of traditional sacred songs and chants made the night unforgettable for me. Clayoquot Sound is a beautiful place filled with beautiful people.
