maybe this is lame but sometimes I randomly get overwhelmed and cry because my life is so peaceful and I’m so content right now alhamdulillah and I could’ve never imagined this for myself when I was younger. even a normal simple life feels so beautiful when you came from a chaotic and traumatic environment. this morning I went to pilates and then I got a nice coffee and walked home and the sun was shining through the autumn leaves and it almost felt like a dream

why go to the grocery store or to a restaurant when you can just get food delivered why go to the mall when you can get same day shipping on amazon why go to the library when you have kindle why make art when there’s ai why go to the cinema when you can stay at home and watch netflix. we are in a loneliness epidemic btw

The solution to being obsessed with your appearance is just to get a busy job and/or start working on actually achieving things like I promise you can’t waste time on the shape of your eyebrows when you’ve got competing deadlines. I promise you’ll realise how unimportant your pore size is, when you’re kicking academic or career goals or trying to build something or doing some complicated task. I am begging any woman who is fixated on her face/body to get an intellectually rigorous job or a hobby or focus on a high-intensity sport or some shit. Just do anything that takes you out of your head like I’m not trying to be mean but you can defeat this loser, self-limiting behaviour

Birth control is one of those things that’s so complex to feminism because on the one hand, it single handedly freed millions of women from sexual and reproductive servitude and fuelled women’s liberation in an easily accessible way. On the other hand it’s such a representation of all of the inadequies of women’s healthcare, the horrific side effects, the ways it’s overprescribed and expected of women to take on to save their boyfriends the burden of using a condom. It’s like thank you, but also do better. It may have leased to mass improvements in women’s rights in society but it desperately still needs improvement

It also only freed women from reproductive servitude. The first thing men did when they found out women could take a pill to prevent pregnancy was demand more sexual servitude (see: the sexual revolution in the 60s).
