To promote the fourth Indiana Jones film, Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull, Burger King whipped up a new menu item themed to the iconic explorer.

The Indy Whopper was a burger with two beef patties, mayonnaise, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, two slices of pepper jack cheese, Cajun mayo, and bacon on a sesame seed bun.

Burger King also offered a scratch and win revealed a secret game where customers could rub one of two crystal skull images and potentially win a prize. Prizes included free menu items, one million dollars, a Hummer H2, and a trip to Peru, because Indiana Jones.

Location: Zaxby's

To promote Sony's latest Men In Black film, Men In Black: International, Southern-based chicken chain Zaxby's created a drink and dessert pair that was out of this world.

The drink, the Mellow Yellow Unidentified Fizzy Object, was a green, citrus-flavored drink available in Zaxby's Coca-Cola Freestyle machines.

The dessert, the Chocolate Cosmic Cookie, was a chocolate cookie with both regular chocolate chips and green candy-coated chocolate pieces. Customers could order one or three cookies.

Zaxby's would create multiple commercials using the Men in Black agents and tech. Some would advertise new, unthemed menu items, while another, promoting the Cosmic Chocolate Cookie, featured a child using the neuralyzer from the film to wipe his family's memories to trick them into giving him an additional helping of the snack.

Location: Shake Shack

To promote the latest of DreamWorks's Trolls films, Trolls: Band Together, Shake Shack created a trio of shakes sure to make any Trolls fan happy.

These shakes were Poppy's Sugar Cookie Shake, a sugar cookie frozen custard shake with whipped cream and blue and pink cotton candy,

Branch's Chocolate Peppermint Shake, a vanilla and chocolate frozen custard shake with mint fudge, whipped cream, and mint candy 'crunch',

and Viva's Cinnamon Roll Shake, a cinnamon roll frozen custard shake with golden frosting, whipped cream, and golden sprinkles.

The trolls also took over the Shake Shack location in West Hollywood, including giant figures of some of the characters on the roof and giveaways with Trolls toys as prizes. There were also several specialized jukeboxes that would play Trolls songs when customers placed their shake on them.

To promote Illumination's animated Grinch movie starring Tumblr darling Benedict Cumberbatch, the International House of Pancakes created a wonderful, awfully good range of themed menu items.

These included the Grinch's Green Pancakes, a stack of green pancakes topped with cream cheese icing, (sometimes) green whipped cream, and red candy hearts,

the Whoville Holiday Cheesecake French Toast, french toasted King's Hawaiian rolls with cheesecake filling topped with raspberry sauce and whipped cream,

the Who-Roast Beast Omelette, an omelette stuffed with shredded beef, hash browns, a jalapeno and onion blend, and Monterey Jack and Cheddar cheese all topped with spicy barbecue sauce, cheese, and a Serrano pepper.

and the Minty Who-Hot Chocolate, hot chocolate with mint syrup and green whipped cream with red candy hearts.

There were also kid-sized portions of the pancakes and hot chocolate "for little Whos" available as the Mt. Crumpit Kid's Combo.

To promote Marvel's upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine film, Burger King locations in the Philippines created a pair of themed burgers for mercs to stuff their mouths with.

The burgers, called the Best Bubs Burgers, were

The Chimi-Merc Burger, a red-bunned burger with a flame-grilled beef patty, chimichanga sauce, American cheese, white onions, sliced jalapenos, lettuce, and mayo,

and the Bacon-Claw Cheeseburger, a yellow-bunned burger made with a flame-grilled beef patty, bacon, and four different cheeses.

As part of the promotion, the store in Quezon City received a themed makeover with character standees, graffiti, and other decor.

Location: Kinton Ramen

To promote the sequel to Warner Bros's live action Mortal Kombat movie, ramen chain Kinton Ramen offered the themed "Mortal Kombo".

The Kombo came with the customer's choice of ramen with one protein, a soft drink, and a side of fries that could be upgraded to spicy "Fatality Fries" for an additional upcharge.

Each Kombo also came with themed chopstick sleeves in one of four different designs, featuring the characters Kitana, Scorpion, Johnny Cage, and Shao Khan.

A car* outside the Toronto Kinton Ramen location was also destroyed by the character Kung Lao, who declared its parking "unworthy".

*this car seems to have moved around during the movie's promotional period, so it was likely Warner Bros's and not Kinton Ramen's.

To promote Freakier Friday, the sequel to early 2000s body swap comedy Freaky Friday, Wahlberg family burger chain Wahlburgers created a themed sandwich for their Australian and New Zealand customers.

The Freaky Fry-Day sandwich was a sandwich with fried chicken, lettuce, bacon, and caramelized onions with hot honey and spicy mayo sauces for an experience that mixed spicy and sweet.
