Craig from Craig of the Creek. Really all of Craig of the Creek was marvelous. It didn't get the Fandom Cartoon Treatment because of a main Black character (yes, that is why and y'all know it), but that's almost a good thing because tbh COTC is genuinely good watching, even as an adult, and I'd have hated to see it demeaned to discourse.

It is clear that the writers- nonblack, by the way!- really did their research, and that the actors all really put their hearts into their characters and deliveries. I actually felt like I was seeing a Black family thrive under good conditions and gentle parenting, with amazing relationships between Craig and his parents. I saw a Black little boy allowed to be himself, allowed to be intelligent, enthusiastic, loved, allowed to be imperfect, sarcastic, overdramatic, allowed to be a CHILD.

And it manages to represent so many other people! You had canon lesbians and gays that were treated normally, you had hella different cultural backgrounds, you had deaf and disabled characters, it was all just... So good.

COTC was the one damn cartoon that SHOULD have been saved with the CN for real. It didn't get to finish properly and you can see that it got raced through 😭
