KNIVES OUT 2019, dir. Rian Johnson
I finally saw Spiderman: Brand New Day last night! Normally I'd go see it the Thursday night before the official premiere but I had a concert that night and just hadn't been able to make it work til now. Such a good movie! While nothing I thought/hoped was gonna happen happened, the story that was told was really engaging. And there was a surprise crossover cameo that I didn't expect which was absolutely delightful. The post credit scene of Spiderman is also quite intriguing, making me wonder how it is gonna tie into anything else. Sorry for the ramble but since you said you're open to talk of movies and books I thought I'd be boring in your Inbox lol
Oh I LOVVVED Brand New Day!! (Spoilers below the cut for anyone that maybe hasn't seen the movie yet)

There’s been talk on the other side about Chris being on drugs again. I personally don’t agree. He has looked thinner than usual until recently, but I think he stopped working out until he had to return as Steve Rogers. He has said he is naturally thin and hates working out. To me he looks healthy, but I’m not familiar with how addicts or even occasional users look like. 🤷🏻♀️
That’s their fall back argument when things aren’t going their way. He’s fine. Lol 🧜🏻♀️
Did Pascal leave the blog? She’s been quiet and there’s been new content and things to talk about. No offense to Ariel, I just get worried when you ladies disappear and love talking to both of you!
None taken! Pascal is okay, but she's been busy with work and life. The real world has kind of been kicking her ass a little bit lately, but I will pass along your message to her! 🧜♀️
And funnily enough, most of what I know about places he used to frequent in Massachusetts, I learned from interviews. Some of those places were places I went to myself./
this is such a weird hill to die on. “I used to go to the same places and never saw him”. Congratulations?? neither have most people. that doesn’t make the people saying they haven’t seen him liars
Yes, congratulations to you too. You’ve accidentally understood my entire point. I never saw him either. Shocking, isn’t it?
The other point they're completely missing (or, being purposely obtuse about)......they're willing to believe these "locals" without proof. No questions asked. But will not believe the words out of Chris' own mouth. 🧜♀️
I just really need to say that nothing annoys more than these “Mass locals”/
you sound way more bothered by this than the people you’re supposedly calling out lol. If you actually lived in massachusetts you’d know people there don’t care about celebrities. nobody needs your weird little credentials check
If pointing out how ridiculous an argument is counts as “bothered,” then I guess basic critical thinking must look very emotional from your side of the screen😭
If the people being "called out" weren't "bothered" - they wouldn't be doing any of this in the first place. They are VERY VERY VERY bothered. So bothered they have to make up stories about "Mass locals" 🧜♀️

Did you see that?
I'm glad he finally sold it, but goddamn that is such a beautiful house. 🧜♀️

A review of Sacrifice but you have to translate it.

“Sacrifice”: the “mad hope” of Romain Gavras’s film
During a major event on a Greek island—staged inside an elegant, converted mine—some of the world’s wealthiest celebrities and figures gather to champion the cause of saving the planet. The evening’s star is the wealthy Ben Braken (Vincent Cassel), an entrepreneur dedicated to cleaning up the oceans; standing out among the many guests is Mike Tyler (Chris Evans), a difficult Hollywood actor grappling with a career in decline. However, the pompous, hypocritical ceremony is upended when an eco-terrorist cult led by Joan (Anya Taylor-Joy) storms the venue. The group takes everyone hostage, convinced they must sacrifice three guests to prevent the island’s volcano from erupting and wiping out humanity.
The screenplay weaves together satire, drama, action, and social and environmental critique—even touching on themes like processing trauma and self-discovery—while maintaining an accessible, entertaining tone. Directed by Romain Gavras and presented at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival, Sacrifice is a feature film with a clear, intuitive structure that nonetheless takes unexpected turns. It is a work that pairs its environmental themes with a quest for individual meaning—even at the cost of sacrificing one’s life for the most absurd causes. The arc of the fading actor is emblematic: a man in limbo, a showman torn between the desire for the spotlight to revive his film career and the temptation to buy into the terrorists' insane cause. His character constantly wavers—right up to the very end—between opportunistic posturing and taking a genuine stand.
With straightforward direction and editing and a carefully crafted soundtrack, the film allows itself to loosen up during dreamlike sequences, evoking a faint echo of Beau Is Afraid. The satire regarding the posturing and hypocrisy of the powerful and the famous calls to mind recent works like Opus or The Menu, as well as the cinema of Ruben Östlund (such as The Square), albeit without fully embracing the latter’s more dramatic, biting, and dark elements. Holding it all together is the commitment of a cast fully invested in the project: Chris Evans effectively conveys the confusion of an actor torn between being a hero and a celebrity; Vincent Cassel skillfully sketches the cynical, disrespectful tycoon; and Anya Taylor-Joy embodies the criminal group’s leader, joined by John Malkovich in the small role of the mad scientist—a repentant architect of the environmental extremism he himself unleashed. Ultimately, Sacrifice is a feature film that highlights our hypocrisies with a light touch, while never losing sight of that dash of "crazy hope" that never goes amiss.
The excuses being spun this time around are even more ludacris than the first 🥴🤣
This meme has layers 🤣🧜🏻♀️
Ariel, do you have another Tumblr or another place where we can talk about movies, books, and TV series? Or can you ask about it here too?
You can absolutely ask about that stuff here! 🧜🏻♀️

He’s 12 going on 13. Chris posted a couple of years ago for his 10 birthday but of course they don’t know his exact age.
Ah okay yeah that makes sense 🧜🏻♀️

How the hell old is Dodger? Every time he’s asked about him I brace myself
I think around 11ish years old. He adopted Dodger in 2015 when he was filming Gifted and if my memory serves, the shelter said he was about a year old at the time. 🧜🏻♀️
but I get the sense that a lot of these people like to act tough online but would run scared when actually confronted in person. 🧜♀️//
We had an example at the fan expo; online, people constantly talk badly about him, but in person, he pretends to be an innocent and sweet person.
