New Stargate Series Cancelled by Amazon
The new “Stargate” TV series has been axed at Amazon, Variety has learned exclusively.
The show was first announced with a series order in November 2025. It hailed from writer, executive producer, and showrunner Martin Gero, who was a writer on “Stargate SG-1” and “Stargate: Atlantis” early in his career.
According to an individual with knowledge of the situation, Amazon execs were concerned that Gero’s take on the series would not have broad appeal beyond the franchise’s already dedicated fanbase.

Darren from GateWorld just covered a couple additional details provided by Deadline and engaged in some educated speculation about why @amazon dropped the whole project so late into production (they'd already started casting and planned to begin filming this September) and were unwilling to attempt reworking Gero's greenlit script.
The TLDR is that both the @primevideo execs and business strategy have changed in the last 3-4 months, and a fan-forward Stargate project doesn't align with the new vision for the platform.

I don't expect it'll do much, but it sure is cathartic to watch the complaints pile up together, and you never know I guess 乁( •_• )ㄏ
