AITA for accidentally getting my boss’s (m) crush (f) to fall in love with me (f posing as m) while i was supposed to be making her fall for him??

so for context i work for this guy (let’s call him o) and he’s in love with this woman we’ll call v. v is super uninterested and refuses to see him ever since her father and brother died, but my boss really likes her, so, since im his most trusted employee, he sent me to tell her how much he loves her.

here’s where the problem starts: i tell her all about how much my boss loves her, and then when i run out of prepackaged things from my boss to say, i start speaking off the cuff. v absolutely loves this and starts begging me to come back every day, even going so far as to give me a ring that isn’t even mine??? now, she’s absolutely head over heels for ME when i was supposed to be wooing her for my boss.

another wrench in the situation is that im totally in love with my boss but he won’t even consider me (i’m in disguise as a man atm — long story — so despite our deep connection, he only sees me as a friend).

hey guys. thanks to everyone for your support and everything. just wanted to give a huge update on what happened:

so v kept begging me to marry her and o and i kept growing closer and closer and then everything came to a head on this one day where super weird things started happening. people were accusing me of getting into fights that i hadn’t and telling me i did all this stuff that i couldn’t have possibly done.

v even insisted that we had gotten married, which made o super upset, and it was all just one big confusing mess, until all the pieces clicked into place.

turns out my brother isn’t dead! apparently he got rescued from the wreckage and is actually fine, and everyone had been confusing the two of us.

so, v HAD gotten married (to him) and because that was settled, i was able to reveal that i’m actually a woman, and o instantly declared his love for me, and we’re going to get married soon!!

and i honestly think the most fun thing about shakespeare is following the characters and seeing their language and tone shift in real time as the plot progresses. shakespearean language can be intimidating but with the help of translations like sparknotes and practicing, learning to read it has a HUGE payoff and it's so much fun once you get over the learning curve. and there's nothing wrong with watching productions instead of reading! shakespeare was meant to be performed after all!

like i genuinely do not understand wanting to take characters out of the context they're in and simplifying them without everything that essentially makes them who they are. this is the case with every other media of course but with shakespeare it's especially baffling. there's nothing wrong with being a beginner to shakespeare. i promise you it's so much more fun when you actually read the plays. i can't wrap my head around why you would say you're a fan of shakespeare without actually ever reading a single play.
