i just wanna say that i actually genuinely profoundly love every other trans person in a way that is so different from any other bond iβve ever had. like, one of my momβs friends just had his daughter come out as trans and i donβt know anything about her but her name and that sheβs a few years older than me and i think about her every single day and wish for good things to happen to her. my mom told me she got a really good job this week and i cried because i was so happy to hear she was doing well. one of my old roommates was a trans man and he taught me how to do my t shots and bought me shaving cream and nice straight razors when i started needing to shave my face and i still think of him every time itβs shot day. thereβs a young trans guy who i went to high school with and we never really talked but if he ever needed anything iβd be there in a second. i see him around town sometimes and like literally we are always so happy to bump into each other even though weβve never hung out even once. my regular server at this restaurant i went to every week was trans and he teased me about how boring my order always was and complimented me on my jackets and like for a solid year i looked forward to mondays because i knew i was going to see him. like i literally love trans people so much i love us so much. for all the transphobia and dysphoria and stupid infighting and bullshit we put up with we are so strong and so beautiful and like honest to god actually magical and i love us so so much.

The idea of βbut everyone knows thatβ needs to stop.
I saw a post about someone chiding Millennials for not knowing about JKRowlings transphobia, and asking how it is at all possible that people can exist in the world and the internet and, you know, not know.
Which I mean, I get. It is so present in so many of my online spaces that it seems astounding that someone could simply be ignorant! It feels impossible!
But let me tell you a story:
I went on a girls trip with a bunch of friends. All of us are rather incredibly liberal and all of us are incredibly online.
One girl would not stop talking about Harry Potter.
At one point, another girl asked her why she was ok with supporting it, and she had no real clue that JK Rowling was at all transphobic. She had heard that she likes to support Lesbian causes and thought βoh ok cool!β And that was it. She was AGOG with the news and rather horrified.
I must once again emphasize that she was an incredibly online person. Sheβs a foodie and a restaurant blogger.
Later in the trip we were picking restaurants and I suggested one I found on Google, and she gasped at me. Actually gasped, asking how I could ever be okay picking that one.
The shock mustβve been on my face, because she then told me all of the shitty things that restaurateur does. He abuses staff. Underpays them. Fires them on a whim. Is known for being one of the worst people to his employees in the entire restaurant business on this coast.
And she was so shocked I had never heard of this. Because in her mind, I was just as online as her. And in her online world, EVERYONE knew about this guy.
So I think the moral of this story is: always approach the other person with some empathy. Even online people, even people you think MUST know about how bad people are, may not have heard. It may truly be just them being on a different sphere of the internet than you.
So be gentle, be kind when letting people know they might not have heard about the cancellation of XYZ person. Donβt assume that everyone knows all the same info as you.
By all means, let them know so they can make informed decisions, but being kind will go a lot further than attacking them for some info they might not know yet.

Chuck Jones is the best counterexample to βthe curtains are just blueβ because you would not believe the amount of thought and art theory he put into his silly little cartoons
I need to dig out my Chuck Jones books but one time he was talking about the Wile E Coyote gag where he runs off a cliff and continues running for a little bit before noticing thereβs no ground underneath him and then turns to the camera and holds up a sign saying βHelp!β before plummeting and Jones said the reason Coyote does that instead of immediately trying to get back to the cliff edge is bc Coyote embodies anxiety and in that particular moment represents the fear and worry about the judgement of others over and above the desire for self-preservation.
Like, if someone was told that interpretation without knowing any better theyβd think it came from some pretentious academic or whatever but nope! Itβs literally the creator like those are the thoughts he had in his head when he was creating the cartoons
