one thing i can’t fully make up my mind on is why joe never really follows through with calling rico his name until the end of the film. it seems that even though joe’s eventually willing to brush off the whole “being scammed out of $20” thing and (somewhat reluctantly) gets into a weird sort of “business partnership” with rico he does occasionally bring up the fact (during their argument about joe’s strategies not appealing to women) so like, maybe he wants to hold some sort of power or control over the situation in that way? but it also sometimes reads to me like he just Genuinely Forgets like he doesn’t necessarily sound like he’s intentionally trying to get at rico whenever he does it, for example when he’s talking to the camera at the party his tone sounds pretty chill. like i think that also makes sense.

i feel after a while he stops saying it with any malice, think he might just have some marbles rolling around in his head hehe
