Julia Was a Clever Girl

Julia knew she was smart. She was one of those clever children, the kind of child who figures out early on that parents aren’t all-powerful and all-knowing.

I really, really hate to be doing this. But at this point, I have nothing left to go for. This is just some sort of last chance bullshit for me. This is something I hope will work (and knowing it won’t) But to cut to the chase.

My name is Ray. I’m 15 years old, and I’m transgender. Female to male. And I’m hoping to get my case out here. I’m hoping this won’t be another story that only gets out when I’m dead.

I live in an extremely abusive household. (Although, I would not call it anything but mental abuse, but this could change…) About a month ago, I came out to my parents as transgender. It ended as well as you expected. They have refused to call me by my preferred name or pronouns. They’re also currently signing me up for a job, without my permission, under my birth name and gender. To make it worse, they have threatened to not only take away every single piece of technology I own, but to forcefully separate me from my best friends. They have blamed my friends for “converting me” and feel as if I should not be connected with them, and find them “strange” because they also happen to identify as anything besides fucking cis and straight. They are nothing but a bad influence to my parents, but in reality they have helped me discover and become comfortable with my identities. I have not had a single friend refuse to use my preferred name or pronouns — several of them have offered help. Two have offered a place to stay and binders.

Not only that, but my parents have forcefully made me identify as female to the public. I have been forced to wear makeup. (i understand that makeup is gender-neutral, but i am not comfortable with wearing it) I have been forced to wear short shorts, tank tops, bras, the entire sort. I almost got punished for buying a SnapBack because it made me look more like a boy when I wore it.

Not only that, but they have tried to blame mental illness for me being transgender. Depression runs in the family, on my father’s side, to be specific. I’ve been diagnosed with ADHD and, possibly, autism, although, my parents literally have told me they have refused to believe the doctors when told this, so I cannot be sure. I’ve self-diagnosed myself with depression. They think this is literally the cause of me being transgender.

I know this probably sucks as a post. There’s been better. But right now, I cannot afford to re-read over this. They are getting worse and worse. I’m not asking for a place to stay, or resources. I know many more have it worse than me, but I ask one of one thing. I’m asking that you reblog this. That you share this. I don’t expect this to get any more than two notes. But I want to see this reach the thousands. I want to see people on Twitter and Facebook posting about this. I want to not only have my parents called out— But I’m hoping to inspire trans youth that it’s not too late. That they won’t be another story only when they are dead.

if you’re on hrt for more than a year that’s an irreversible physical change. all you need now is a letter from a doctor stating you have undergone an irreversible change.

in many cases they do not need to specify what that change is.

finding this out changed my life. I live in Florida and I will not have to get bottom surgery to change my documents.
