Reminder they want to increase the budget for ICE from 3.5 to 45 billion dollars.

Reminder the majority of that will be for building new detention centers.

Reminder ICE are *currently* detaining tourists who can pay for a plane ticket home and people with visa issues that were already resolved, because they have to make quota so Trump can brag about the numbers going up.

Reminder most of these people were already in the immigration system - that's why they were easy to detain.

Reminder this is all at taxpayer expense.

Punk band UK Subs were detained upon entering the US and kept locked up for 24 hours with little to eat or drink and no sleep before being sent back to London.

They had the correct paperwork for their visit.

I would like to bring attention to the fundraisers that are struggling to get any donations. Unfortunately they are a lot so I'm starting with ten of them. These are all verified by el-shab-hussein and nabulsi and you can find all of them, and many others, in this list.

The required PPE for the Fenton Portal would depend on the hazard, but there are a lot of other safety issues that the Fenton Portal and Fenton household have. (Obviously this is for fun and mainly uses what is shown in the title sequence since that's all I could show my mom).

Electrical Hazards and PPE

The main hazard of the Fenton Portal appears to be an electrical hazard. There are arcing sparks in the portal and it is quite apparent that Danny was electrocuted in some way. The PPE for electrical hazards of this extent would be arc-flash clothing, probably of the 40 cal/cm^2 or level 4 (max level). This includes insulating materials like a hazmat suit, insulating gloves, and eye protection of the variety of a full face shield/hood. This is the type of PPE for a worker needing to go into a room with an active circuit breaker. It’s less that it’ll keep you safe and more that it’ll keep you alive.

Extension Cords

The Ghost Portal appears to be powered through an electrical extension cord. The electrical power required to create the above levels of electrical energy should not be given through plugging in an electrical plug but instead through a switch or lever so a worker is not handling that level of electricity through a cord at close distance. The cord itself is not even a grounded cord! High voltage should be through a grounded cord, you know, the plugs with that extra bit.

Additionally, the Fentons left the Fenton Portal plugged in (and powered) and walked away. You cannot leave equipment powered on and unattended when you are aware that something is not working correctly or doesn’t work. [General Duty Clause] Lockout procedure would also have to be in place for the equipment when investigating. Jack and Maddie did not lock it out and left it open and potentially powered on for others to "work" on the machine.

The extension cords are also tripping hazards all around the lab (while also being live cords). They must be securely taped or fastened to the floor with appropriate tripping hazard signs/markings.

Hazard Warnings

There should be warnings in the lab and outside of the lab that warn for use by appropriately trained and authorized personnel only. There are neither hazard warnings nor is there any guarding from unauthorized entry and prevention of access.

The ON/OFF Panel

This is a major safety violation, but in more ways than obvious. The on/off switch is location inside the Fenton Portal, making it unable to be turned on or off without entering it and subjecting oneself to the above electrical hazards. The case itself though is not self-closing. The buttons are able to be accessed on accident. Self-closing cases should snap shut— you would have to manually override the mechanics to open it, such as using a turning mechanism to get access to the buttons. The cover should snap back into place to “safe/closed” as default. This is called a failsafe. If something fails, it fails back to a safe position.

The Buttons Themselves

An alternative to a snap-shut mechanism would be having a guard, such as an e-stop button or placing the buttons inside of a collar. Both structures prevent the buttons from being pushed without intentional effort—using a thumb or navigating your hand around the collar. This would prevent a hand passing nearby from accidentally pressing the button.

PPE Use Outside of the Lab

For this, we’re going to assume that Ectoplasm is a biological/infectious substance of some kind (chemical would also work). Considering that the electrical shock and ectoplasm combined to “rearrange Danny’s molecules” I do not think this is a stretch.

If you wear PPE in a room with a biological hazard (like an infectious disease spread by contact with objects), then you must doff (take off) your PPE before you exit or in an antechamber. This is so that you do not track the organisms out of the room—the gown or hazmat suit would be discarded or cleaned without contaminating other “clean” locations. Maddie and Jack Fenton wear their hazmat suits constantly and show no signs of decontaminating them regularly and before they go up to their kitchen. Their kitchen is also contaminated with ectoplasm which would violate the OSHA blood borne pathogens program. regardless of whether ectoplasm can be blood borne, consuming it due to touch contact with food or getting it on one’s skin would be an issue. The disposal of the ectoplasm would also be a concern, but since I don’t think it’s Category A medical waste it would likely have to be treated as an unknown chemical and would be extremely expensive to dispose of (if they didn’t chuck it back into the portal).

Now you may be asking: what to do about Fenton Works? They’re obviously violating so many safety codes, not adhering to the hierarchy of controls, and they even had a fatality!

Well, OSHA may not apply in this circumstance due to the lack of employees (or having a limited number of employees). If an employee did call and notify OSHA, they might perform a visit if a concern is deemed “immediately hazardous to life.” Which it is. But we all know that Danny and Jazz won’t file a complaint.
