feeling extremely smug because i found a trove of edible agaricus in my garden yesterday ! not just toxic yellow stainers but proper edible ones ! eating them for my breakfast
i dont care if monday sucks... tuesday cost me sixty bucks... wednesday thursday give no fucks. it's friday im a duck
All it ever does is rain, Hockney
i think maybe i showed you this a couple of months ago but whatever --
my sink scour set-up ! i have three of these lovely little plastic mesh baskets i found at an opshop for $2 each. they fit perfectly in my sink so i lay fleece in them and stack them on top of each other to soak. this way i can keep my staples aligned and still zhuzh the fleece and rearrange it to make sure all bits are properly scoured. when not scouring fleece they also help to hold flicked staples, dizzed nests of roving, or batts from the carder. they also work to hold crafting misc and sometimes mushrooms

i lied i'm not getting buttons, i'm scouring the last of wizz fizz's fleece, mostly mid-brown with handfuls of silvery grey interspersed. then i'm maybe going to get buttons but also maybe not
the bagel place that kept me going through everything is going to close in a couple of weeks, rip the best halloumi/avo/tomato/rocket/chilli jam/mayo with extra pickle because i can :((
this is the vest, finished and fulled (took a lot more effort than "wash gently in warm water" to get this baby to stiffen up a little -- one sink of hot and one of cold water, a lot of soap, and a lot of smooshing and smashing and squeezing but now it's feeling good). off to get buttons !
today !
i am going to buy buttons for dad's vest, from the intimidating button shop where you need to know exactly what you want to purchase and where it is or else the owner will be cross. i had a squizz online and like the "flat stick flower spot resin" buttons that are a dollar each, so i'm halfway there.
i am also going to buy a large bag of my favourite tea because it's been a couple of weeks of teabags and they're not as nice. the shop isn't far it's just a bit awkward to get to, but it's worth it for my next 4 months of daintree tea.
i am tossing up doing another detour to get some cabbage and greens from the urban farm some uni friends of mine set up at a school, which i feel bad for not visiting before but think i might start to volunteer at since my work changed days and now it lines up. been craving japanese style shredded cabbage side-salad !!
also: dropping off some frozen mushrooms (parcooked inkcaps) to my old housemates, plus a house inspection this afternoon.
otherwise -- going to full the vest; might try for a room tidy; laundry is already happening; thinking of spinning some of the dyed shetland roving i have drum carded to fluff out a bit (we can't have raw shetland fleeces here, due to biosecurity laws, and the colours of these rovings were so tempting and it felt like a nice break from fleece processing to have a high craft per craft moment)
oh and i'm going to visit the sub spot to do some more picking for gifts ! people love a jar of drugs as a present.
your cat was an honor to see in the window

Izzy was attacked by a leech
it wanted my eye...maybe it was the same leech that sucked my mother's eye when she went skinny dipping with a certain former premier of victoria

"very slightly felted" but then recommends "gentle soak in warm water with wool wash". teeny weeny nothing felt nonsense. i'm gonna give it a good old smash

the vest is knit! i need to find buttons and finish it (the pattern calls for, and then forgets to mention later on in the pattern under finishing, fulling slightly so that is what i will do)
