To the couple who drifted apart after a decade or so,
I see a lot of you in each other you know
The things he notices, the things she says,
Even without an effort complement anyway
It’s been around a year of decade apart too,
But the traces of each other remain within you two
I’m sure if someone pointed them out you’d want to change,
Or maybe by now you’ve learnt to embrace
Learnt to own the part of you, the part of you that doesn’t belong to you
Doesn’t belong to you, but somehow defines you
Defines you better than the image you see,
In the eyes of others too, better than how you’d define thee
Makes me think about the things we can’t see,
The darkness, the scars that run deep
They must have left a greater mark, haven’t they?
But if I were to ask you, I know you couldn’t say
Wouldn’t necessarily deny, so probably you know it too,
And maybe you see it, feel it, breathe it through
And if you don’t then allow me to remind you,
You are no longer merely just you, but also a shade of who used to be with you.
