Grow Up, Be a Winner

when you think about it teenagers of the next generation will never get to experience a cw show with 7+ seasons and 22 episodes per season. they will never know what it's like to be insanely obsessed with a mediocre show with mediocre writing and mediocre acting (with one really good actor carrying the show on their backs). they will never know the feeling of fighting weekly in the trenches for your ship only for the writers to screw you over. they will never be so increasingly disappointed by the worsening writing choices as the seasons progress and they will never know what it's like to watch the worst series finale after investing years into a show. and that is the biggest tragedy.

Just got back from supergirl and just one of the many things I loved about it was the way Kara said this man needs to die so he can’t hurt anyone else but I can’t let you do it out of revenge. I can’t let that weigh on your heart for the rest of your life when it’s already so heavy. Idk I’m just insane for the idea of that being how she’s a hero—telling someone you don’t have to carry this weight on your shoulders you don’t have to have this blood on your hands I will do it for you. I will live with knowing I’ve done something terrible as long as it means you don’t have to.

Thats exactly what I loved about Kara, she knew that if she let Krem go he wouldn’t stop but letting Ruthye, a little girl, carry that blood on her hands was wrong so she did it for her

I like that Supergirl says it’s okay to kill someone’s abuser so long as you don’t let the thirteen year old do it and I like that Supergirl says vengeance will not solve things but neither will allowing a cycle of violence to continue

And I like how Supergirl addresses the real issues and lets the girls be messy instead of "teaching her a lesson" that she needs to be nicer. She is not nice but she is kind!

What I love about Becka's justice is that it was only ever going to end that way. We've seen from the very first episode of this series what these girl are taught to do with abusers, if a man hurts a woman he must forfeit his life. The men of Gilead might be horrified by Becka, but she was only doing what she was taught, she was enacting God's justice, she was His hand, and she brought His judgement upon the sinner

Appa's Lost Days is basically canonical whump. I'm rarely in a mood to watch it.
