I find this especially true with comics because 99% of the time someone is complaining because a side character that appears in two issues is their blorbo and they were "mischaracterized". Like respectfully stfu. Comic characterization isn't real. Life is finite. Stories are fun.

The way Ultraboy knew he wasn't where he was supposed to be from the beginning
He's actively pretending he's young Jon because he thinks he'll be sent away if they find out. He has night terrors about his own father, he doesn't miss his family, and he's so eager to be good.
His father actively tried to make him Ultraman Jr. and the second he's pulled away from that he just wants to hug his non-evil mom and help people. This poor fucking child.
he lashes out because he's scared of being trapped again. he's an eleven year old who inhabits the mantle of Superboy so he can be safe from more abuse and imprisonment. And he's right to. People inherently distrust him. He's not safe.
But Jon chooses him. He not only reaffirms his own self worth and choices he's made, keeping the life he has now, he also proves to this scared child he's worth saving. He isn't pretending to be Superboy, he is Superboy. He's proven that with the choices he's made

It's fun to theorize about which element in ATLA is the most powerful, because you can get into al these hypotheticals about oxygen in your blood and metal bending and so much other cool shit. There's no right answer, because there aren't many hard world building limits so you can just proselytize till the sun comes up. There is a wrong answer though. It's fire. Firebenders are the only benders who can conjure their element from nothing yet they still needed a literal once in a lifetime astrological event to stand a chance against a ten year old and his four friends. It's not fire. Pick any other answer.
