STAY SAFE!! [ID: the Gilbert Baker pride flag with the words “Happy pride to all those who are unable to celebrate openly and safely. You are loved and seen!” in all-caps black text over it. /end ID]
i wish people would stop romanticizing not eating breakfast and not getting enough sleep and being dependent on coffee to function and always being in a bad mood and treating yourself poorly because that behavior is very unhealthy for you
He’s right.
It's end of May, yall know what that means
If youre a closeted person somewhere out there thinking "I want to transition but it would be less progressive/unique/countercultural for me to be that gender instead of this one" please know that you are a real person not a character in a narrative and cant live your life based on what is good media representation. You are real you can only be yourself and theres no moral weight to any identity over another
Liberal transphobes enjoy positioning trans identities as regressive compared to cis queerness or like non-transitioning transness or anything else they can leverage to make transphobia look progressive and I think its easy to absorb that message subconciously. But in real life we just are what we are and no ranking of validity can change the fact that you have an identity that is NOT chosen and is just your unchangeable truth. Not only should you not have to live a life dictated by what is most countercultural to identify as or whatever but also: being trans is extremely countercultural and feminist and leftist to begin with and theyre only trying to convince you otherwise bc theyre bigots
"Why cant you be a feminine man society hates feminine men 🥺" and "all the butch lesbians are becoming men we need u 🥺" = stay in the closet for the noble purpose of being an abstract representation point in my new york times opinion column. You wont actually be a gnc cis person youll be a closeted trans person who uses the wrong words but I need you to do that because i hate you

you literally have to unironically listen to some shit like party rock anthem so you don’t kill yourself
mythbusters was so good because it wasn't a killjoy show. they didn't just say "see, it doesn't work" and leave it there
whenever they find that the stunt doesn't work as portrayed in the movie, they immediately ask "what would it take to make this happen?"
“we know it takes this amount of explosives to work, but what if we doubled it anyway?”
Some myths I'll always remember:
* Are elephants scared of mice? (They only did that because they were in Africa and had access to elephants.)
* Will a bull run amok in a china shop?
* Is it better to run zig-zag or straight when chased by an alligator?
I love these because NONE of them turned out the way they expected. They went into all three with pre-conceived ideas of how it would go, and each time they "failed." Elephants WILL cower from mice. A bull moves very gingerly through a china shop. It doesn't matter how you run because ALLIGATORS WON'T CHASE YOU.
And each time, they reacted with just... pure glee. "Holy shit, we were wrong! Oh my god! This is great! We were so wrong!"
And that, to me, is what science is. Being excited about being wrong because either way it's information.
my friend's discord server has a "proof of touch grass" channel where they post pics of them doing regular activities outdoors/in public. i think many online spaces could benefit from such a thing
when i was super depressed - like struggling to eat anything barely able to get out of bed to pee depressed - my good friend asked me every day to send her a picture of me holding a leaf and a picture of a meal i was eating and it helped me significantly
(also, she was never judgey - if my meal was a single potato chip she would simply say good job eating a potato chip today <3 )
which is to say, i agree proof of touch grass is a good idea for online spaces
This kinda required my brain a bit

Ideas for New Forms of Multimedia Storytelling
geocacheing
chain emails forwarded to you by an aunt you don’t talk to
writing on the walls of public bathrooms
complex system of Minecraft servers with interactive puzzles
hundreds of voice mails each sent to 100 subscribed members of the fandom each, who then have to piece everything together online
choose your own adventure but better
random people get released on stage during a stage play and can affect the plot however they choose
story is embedded in book of word find puzzles
people dressed as wizards kidnap you and you have to be the protagonist
news site that publishes weird stories and there are always weird comments in the comment sections
a group of people creates a story and memorizes it, and then they each have to teach the story to two other people, who must continue passing it on
links to questionable Wikipedia article edits
Instagram account whose photos start getting weirder and weirder until the person who runs the account disappears and the followers have to solve the mystery
recorded on random vhs tapes all over the globe
a podcast that is downloaded to 10,000 MP3 players that self-destruct if they are with the same person more than two weeks, forcing everyone to keep passing them on to new people
a composition book that is transported around the globe via hot air balloon
books left on McDonalds’ floors that say DO NOT READ
a gigantic park full of sidewalks with a story written on the sidewalk that can be read as you walk, and that has different endings depending on where you go
microchips placed inside feral cats
several hundred seemingly identical uploads of the devil went down to Georgia on YouTube, which each have different mistakes in the lyrics, and which can be pieced together to create a story
like jehovah’s witnesses but they walk around asking people if they want to hear a chapter of what is actually a very extended musical with dance numbers. yes, they will do this on your porch, and no, there is no way to get the chapters in order
book where you cut out a chapter every time you read it and write your own
vlog that gets increasingly more concerning
game where the only action is to pick up and read book and also to make coffee and pet your cat
movie put on dvds and scattered around random antique shops
found footage horror film that is just footage that you found
recipes passed down from generation to generation
an ever-expanding franchise that switches to a different type of media every time it creates a sequel. the first installment is a book, the second is a video game, the third is a Netflix series, the fourth is a broadway musical, the fifth is a podcast, the sixth is an alternative rock album, and the seventh is available only through oral tradition
story that is explained to the small children of the people who want to read it, and the children must in turn explain it to them. people without children can borrow someone else’s child.

I’ve decided that this post is not a joke
The universe is over and the small gods that aren't quite gods but more akin to accountants and landlords, and so perhaps devils, have paid the physics bills and are painting the milky way a marketable beige, although the old hope is still leaking through (they have once again forgotten to call the plumber).
They turned the stars off, something about light pollution. Light is still traveling through space. An old blue planet, infested with entirely ufashionable life, has been swept into the far corner and covered with a new "no smoking" sign. The world is over, for now, but it didn't end.
Soon, with the way they placed the new shower, there will be mould on the firmament carpet, and where there's mould, there's life.
I don’t think we ought to normalize or justify bullying as a means to keep people from being annoying — a sentiment that in and of itself could make for a whole article’s worth of conversation — but I do think we should make a habit of politely but directly telling people “hey I didn’t like that”, “that wasn’t funny”, “you are mistaken”, and the like if it’s called for, and more importantly, you should be able to take a “that wasn’t funny” for instance without taking it personally, because protecting a polite harmony where no one can criticize each other, not even politely, is also really, really bad.
bonus/proof:

Treat prepping: mixing the dry ingredients for baked goods beforehand so even though I won't have the time to do any baking today, I'm halfway done for tomorrow.
Also going to chop up some fresh fruit to put in the freezer so I can try making homemade sorbet later at some point.

“Where are the trans men in history?” See. When you're born a gender that was forcefully married off, who had to live most of their life indoors, when you had to raise children, and had a lobotomy if your family thought you were a tad too odd, it's kinda hard to come out as a trans man now ain't it.
