yet another thing in in Teen Wolf that pisses me off, as a fellow woman of color
How Allison Argent, Scott's human WHITE girlfriend, is great at combat despite just being a human without magic, while Kira Yukimura, Scott's supernatural ASIAN girlfriend, is not. Kira was a nice person & a good character w/ lots of potential & the writers/director just... threw it away?!? Just to have her as the token Asian character & a damsel-in-distress w/ poor sword "skills"? C'mon!
Anyone familiar with kitsune stories know how much potential Kira had (she could've defeated were-creatures & humans with lightning, as both are vulnerable to electricity! She could even had channel lightning into her katana, that would've been badass), but she ended up being written for the main purpose of being Scott's girlfriend to replace Allison, but he doesn't even treat her as good as he treated Allison − as if Kira is less important than his White ex-girlfriend. Kira deserved much better (I suggest a properly-written plot & Malia as her aggressive, supportive girlfriend).
A little reminder: I didn't finish watching the later episodes of Season 5, so I don't know how Kira fights later on.
