But hear me out: Then Chameleon happens.
Now Lila is part of the class and the classmates are wrapped around her finger. Adrien tells Marinette to take the high road. Alya gets onto Marinette about not being considerate of Lila. Lila pulls her pity parties to make it seem like Marinette doesn’t want her around.
Marinette finally has enough. They want her to be considerate of Lila? Fine. She’ll be considerate.
So she starts adding Lila to her planner, as much as it grates her to have anything featuring Lila in any of her stuff. But okay, she does it. Alya is pleased, thinking Marinette is trying to include Lila and be on better terms with her. Adrien is pleased, thinking Marinette is trying to help Lila be a better person. Lila is pleased, thinking Marinette is giving in.
Marinette isn’t. She’s just being petty.
Whenever Lila spins some story about something she has to do in the future, Marinette jots it down on the schedule as well. So there end up being a number of group activities that Lila doesn’t get to join in on or doesn’t get invited to and if Marinette is confronted, she points to Lila’s claims that she was supposed to be doing some important thing or meeting some famous person at that time.
“I wanted to invite you to the movie, Lila, but I knew you were supposed to be attending the luncheon at the animal shelter in your honor that day and I didn’t want to distract you from that.”
“Oh, I didn’t get an extra ticket for the upcoming Jagged Stone concert because Lila said she was going to be meeting with Prince Ali at that time. I’m so sorry! But hey, I have Jagged Stone’s number! Maybe you can talk to him and ask him for another ticket since you saved his kitten and all? You could probably get better seats, even!”
And if someone calls her on planning things when Lila can’t go?
“Sorry guys, we can’t have an end of the year party since Lila can’t make it. And we can’t just leave someone out.”
And suddenly the class is less concerned about Lila being unable to attend outings.
Lila starts backtracking on some of her lies to try to get around this.
“Oh, they had to cancel my award ceremony because the Prime Minister got sick!”
Which makes Marinette pout because “Oh, that’s sad to hear. I had even been working on a banner for it and everything.”
But Lila can’t suddenly cancel too many things because that will start to look suspicious.
Then there are the instances where Marinette gathers up other classmates to go to some “activity” Lila claims to be having to “support Lila”.
“Lila is doing a special modeling shoot at the park this Saturday! We can bring her a packed lunch!”
Only the group goes to the park and there’s nothing. Everyone else is confused and they just end up having a picnic instead.
And Marinette makes sure to only include things that Lila says in front of other people so Lila can’t claim she’s making up her schedule. Then when her lies start to pile up, Marinette keeps track of those, too.
“You say you have a trip to Brazil this weekend? But last week you said you were going to Russia?”
Eventually, other classmates are going to start questioning it, too. If at first out of concern because they want to keep track or think Marinette is mishearing Lila. Then they’re bound to start noticing that things aren’t adding up.
“Hey, Mylene and I volunteered for that cleanup at the park and we didn’t see you there.”
“I thought you were going to the movie premier, but we couldn’t find you.”
“How are you going to two different countries across the world in one day?”
And Marinette just gets to sit back and watch the chaos unfold.
