Hey
You.
Yeah you
Social worker
With enthusiasm a masters degree and a license
We want you.
To work full time.
Across multiple sites that all have different cultures and none of whom want you to actually do your work in full.
We want you.
To do therapy.
But only the kind we ask you to and only at the time we say.
We want you.
To give your input.
Quietly, privately, never in writing and also never in front of the clients.
We want you.
To get invested in the client growth.
If itâs what looks like what weâre used to the bounds of acceptable professional limits looking like.
We want you.
To be ethical and good putting clients first.
But only when it doesnât step on colleagues toes.
We want you.
To be innovative and interesting.
Unless it affects the existing infrastructure in any way.
We want you.
To be an direct communicator and helper.
Meanwhile we will be talking about you behind your back at all times and never tell you when thereâs problem, ever.
We want you.
To give.
And we will give nothing back.
Hey you.
Social worker.
Hey you. With the masters.
Hey you. With the license.
Hey you. With enthusiasm.
Wanna save the world?
What? You donât?
Well fuck you Nurse Ratchet you steal babies and punish the homeless so youâre evil anyway.
u ever wake up from a dream like âdamn i guess iâm not coping with THAT as well as i thought i wasâ
I wonder if part of the reason so many gen x/millennials have time blindness with the early 2000s ('2007 was three years ago', etc) is because major moments from our childhood/young adulthood haven't resolved?
We're still venerating everything tied to 9/11
We're still in Afghanistan, still in Iraq
There's soldiers who are gonna get sent to Afghanistan that weren't even alive in 2001 for gods sake
We're all still in the Great Recession, we all are in a financial arrested development and won't get out of debt for years, if not our entire lives for some of us
We were the first generation of kids dying in school shootings, and nothing has changed there for our own children
On one level, the things around my life at 15 are the same things still in my life now as an adult
And the real kicker is, no one in charge seems to think these things are problems so they don't even get discussed much less addressed
We're just going to be in forever wars, and drowning in debt if we survive school
The rhythms of American life changed in the 2010s. How everything from TV to Trump to Instagram messed with your head just enough that time
Whatđ haveđ I đbeenđ saying
Inuits in the Arctic can survive perfectly on a plant based diet đ¤
indigenous hunting is like, the ONE kind of hunting that shouldnt offend anyone and yet
listen, i fucking love whales. i do. i have advocated against cetacean captivity and whale hunting since i was like 13. i HATE whale hunting. but have you ever seen the prices for food in a grocery store in indigenous areas, if they even have one?Â
i can guarantee no vegan has ever paid $22 usd for a bag of grapes, and you cannot farm that far north. they can forage for some foods, but its not enough to sustain themselves and get a nutritionally complete diet. this isnt just cultural or religious practices (although cultural and religious practices are significant and shouldnt be stripped from them), its literal survival. indigenous people hunt in a very sustainable way (a single bowhead whale can feed an entire community for a year), they arent out here killing a bear just to hang it on their wall. they are trying to survive. subsistence hunting by native tribes is 100% morally correct, even if (like me) the thought of animals dying makes you sad. fight against the japanese whaling fleets who kill hundreds of whales under the guise of research and then sell the meat. fight against wealthy americans who kill animals just to stuff them and put them on their wall. fight against seaworld and their disgusting cetacean captivity practices. but dont come at native people who depend on subsistence hunting to survive. fucking colonizers.Â
Discourse entirely to the side, Iâm here for a little girl who hears, âThis is going to be dinner for us,â and just tries to take a bite out of the tail. I mean, thatâs peak toddler logic, right there. Relatable to any parent ever.
(Also, indigenous practices are not equivalent to trophy hunting and thirty dollar bags of grapes are nothing short of fucking appalling. But mostly cute toddler.)
Even if grapes weren't $28, non-Indigenous people (more specifically, in this case, non-Inuit people) have no place telling Inuit people not to eat meat
Anyone who says the Inuit should live on a plant based diet deserves to get dropped off in the far north for a year with $1000 a month budget.
The logistics doesnât even matter, they could all be millionaires, itâs THEIR culture, only they can decide together when and if they no longer want to do this and itâs no one elseâs business whether or not they ever do. Human societies simply come first.

This is the funniest thing iâve heard my entire life đ
Truth xD
in the book crowley was much more afraid of hell than aziraphale was of heaven... but what aziraphale was afraid of more than anything heaven would do to him was like... having been wrong all this time.
crowley has no stake in hell's goals but is loyal out of self-preservation while aziraphale convinces himself that his ideals must be in line with heaven's and vice versa because if they aren't then he's been believing in the wrong people his whole life.
and at the end aziraphale realizes that heaven is wrong and he has to break away from their beliefs and goals and crowley realizes that hell is already going to do the worst things they can possibly do to him and he has nothing to lose.
crowley had to be freed from hell's promise of physical safety and aziraphale had to be freed from heaven's promise of ideological safety.
they're both constrained by their fears, and the beauty of it is, neither of them is really strong enough to overcome that on their own. Aziraphale won't allow himself to doubt Heaven's agenda (no matter what questions he entertains in the darkest depths of his soul, where he can't look at them too closely) without a nudge from Crowley to make him feel safe enough to open himself up to those questions. Crowley will take a strong ideological position in opposition to both Heaven and Hell, but actually acting on his beliefs requires solidarity and reassurance from Aziraphale.
in short, it's all about how we really cannot do anything truly alone. no man is an island, the whole is greater than the sum of it's parts, we're all interconnected, and our bonds with our loved ones are what can help us become braver, kinder, better people if we mutually support and care for each other. Aziraphale and Crowley don't have it in them to be the hero of anyone's story alone, but together they're stronger and wiser people.
1. âState the idea you wish to express as clearly as possible, and in terms preschoolers can understand.â Example: It is dangerous to play in the street. âââââ
2. âRephrase in a positive manner,â as in It is good to play where it is safe.
3. âRephrase the idea, bearing in mind that preschoolers cannot yet make subtle distinctions and need to be redirected to authorities they trust.â As in, âAsk your parents where it is safe to play.â
4. âRephrase your idea to eliminate all elements that could be considered prescriptive, directive, or instructive.â In the example, thatâd mean getting rid of âaskâ: Your parents will tell you where it is safe to play.
5. âRephrase any element that suggests certainty.â Thatâd be âwillâ: Your parents can tell you where it is safe to play.
6. âRephrase your idea to eliminate any element that may not apply to all children.â Not all children know their parents, so: Your favorite grown-ups can tell you where it is safe to play.
7. âAdd a simple motivational idea that gives preschoolers a reason to follow your advice.â Perhaps: Your favorite grown-ups can tell you where it is safe to play. It is good to listen to them.
8. âRephrase your new statement, repeating the first step.â âGoodâ represents a value judgment, so: Your favorite grown-ups can tell you where it is safe to play. It is important to try to listen to them.
9. âRephrase your idea a ďŹnal time, relating it to some phase of development a preschooler can understand.â Maybe: Your favorite grown-ups can tell you where it is safe to play. It is important to try to listen to them, and listening is an important part of growing.

A judge called the discriminatory guidelines âarbitrary and capricious.â
âA Trump administration rule allowing health care workers to refuse to treat LGBTQ+ patients was blocked on Wednesday after a district court ruled it unconstitutional.
In a 147-page decision, U.S. District Judge Paul Engelmayer of the Southern District of New York claimed that guidelines from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) allowing hospitals and clinics to deny care on the basis of religious beliefs conflicts with Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which forbids discrimination on the basis of characteristics like race and sex. LGBTQ+ advocates have long argued the latter term is inclusive of characteristics like sexual orientation and gender identity.â

6 Reminders For Bad Times
You are allowed to take up space, youâre human.
You are allowed to have a voice.
You are allowed to leave whenever you feel unsafe or uncomfortable.
You deserve more than someone who doesnât know how to respect you.
You are allowed to put your own needs first.
You are allowed to love yourself.
this shit is gold
a girl i know told me how a guy she knows once moved out from his parents, ate nothing but fries and meatballs for HALF A YEAR, and got scurvy. imagine the doctorâs face when this guy shows up with like his gums bleeding and the doc has to fucking say DUDEâŚ. THATS SCURVYâŚ. in this day and age
this is turning into a âhow a person i know got scurvyâ thread and im so here for this, please share your scurvy stories if you have any
the other day someone posted pics from the reddit page r/zerocarbs where these fools only ate meat and 0 vegetables or fruits and all the posts were about various symptoms of scurvy. i died when one literally read âi donât want to start the vitamin C debate again butâ
THE VITAMIN C DEBATE
My mother told me all about scurvy when I was five and trying to resist eating pumpkin and let me tell you itâs been 35 years and I still get nervous if I go for two days without eating a green vegetable.Â
I told my own little picky eater about scurvy, rickets etc and now one of her most frequently requested lunch items is baby spinach, closely followed by carrots.
Iâm not saying everyone should mildly traumatize their children to make them understand that vegetables are vital to ongoing possession of your teeth and organs, but.. no, thatâs exactly what Iâm saying. Go for it.Â
some guys i used to know went on a boys only road trip. they decided they were only going to eat things they could cook on the engine block of the car.
two of them got scurvy. one of them drank so much jagermeister + red bull that he temporarily lost the ability to see in colour.
im sorry he what now
