*sits down to write a smut fic* The plot of this smut fic is that Character A believes himself abandoned by God.
I’m in a weird place with this fic and I can’t tell if I’m focusing too much on sex? Like, the first fic was me purging a lot of my childhood thought processes and memories; though it was not exact the memories happened. I put a lot of thought into writing Harrow’s perspective as my thoughts when I was a Mormon child: the cognitive dissonance, belief in salvation, hoping that the voice in my head was divine instead of just my own. In contrast, Gideon’s chapter and other dialogues line up more with my current perspectives in watching those memories or current Mormon youth.
It was healing in a lot of ways and I am so thankful that such a silly premise was so well received.
But Either I Die or I Live Forever feels wrong? The first chapter had the tone I liked and fulfilled the same purpose of purging, and the second chapter worked, but something is off. I have the beats mapped out, a few horrifying twists and turns that embellish on the Mormon and transgender experiences, and I’m trying to work out where sexual content fits in this. I fucking love writing porn, but I struggled a lot in the last chapter because I felt like I was making it bloated? Like even without sex in there (unless we count boot stuff) it felt like a weird chapter.
I want to get into more of the transgender experience and telling that story because, again, this series purges difficult things and reinforces the work I do in therapy for them. There’s so much missing between these stories that I would rather explore and reveal that isn’t innately sexual, but builds on the themes and narrative I already wrote. And right now I am just not writing.
Anyway, if you see this and have feelings, kick my ass or something. I’d apologize for not writing more smut, but I do this for me and I’m trying to apologize less and be more secure as a person.
