He lands flat on his back. As the pain subsides, he realizes he’s outside—grass and rocks beneath him, blue sky and clouds above him. The wind blows through as well, and distantly, he hears the portal he was pushed through making a noise not unlike a burp. The only though on his mind is that he and Phenomaman are going to have a long chat about both his insistence on throwing his teammates and his shit aim.
Before more thoughts can trickle in, a shadow crosses over him. A face appears a second letter, leaning over his own and blocking out the sun. The darkness over their face gives Robert pause, makes him think that maybe he’s going crazy when he immediately thinks that this person looks like a younger Visi.
“Why the fuck do you look like that?” Sounds like Visi, too. “I’m telling Blazer you did coke with Sonar.”
“…what?” Robert touches his face. All he finds is dust and grime, not any cocaine.
“I-I don’t think—believe that’s Ro-Robert, sir, man.” Though that sounds like Waterboy, it’s a teenager that vaguely looks like him who comes to stand beside… Visi?
“Hmmm… you might be right, pissboy. Too skinny, different costume.”
Before Robert can ask what’s going on, a voice eerily similar to his own comes from elsewhere. “Did you two kill someone?”
“Fuck off. Like I’d ever kill someone with him,” Not-Visi hooks her thumb toward Not-Waterboy.
“Saw—er, found you. Not you! Copy—ver-version of you!”
A new face joins the ones peering over Robert. And it’s… him? But also not. Like the other two mentioned, this new Robert has a scar. Fuller cheeks. More pronounced Asian features. And happier, too. Though he’s confused now, there’s a light in his eyes.
“Never an easy day at SDN, huh?”
The Robert on the ground snorts. “You have no idea.”
