Luke is another one of those that it's a timing issue, so it either needs to be an AU, time travel, or some weird something to make sense in my brain. Luke's death is Important thematically, and I prefer writing adult characters. I do support the blondes though.

The first thing coming to mind is a time travel thing, with Percy going back to camp before he gets there at age 12. He goes back as his older self, so a few years older than Luke when he shows up to camp.

Oooh, maybe he was turned into a God at a later point and as the God of Demigods combined with some weird thing regarding time and prophecy, he's sent on this journey to gain a better understanding/maybe try to fix something — maybe this fic is a tragedy and he thinks he can make a difference but it's a lesson from the Fates that he can't change anything that's been determined.

So you have this Percy who desperately wants to save Luke. He wants to save every demigod but he is Set on saving Luke. I don't know what guise he uses to get into camp, but he's in the Hermes cabin posing as an older demigod who fell through the cracks. Luke makes the first move, cornering Percy and kissing him. Percy never saw this coming, but why not, maybe all Luke needs is a bit of love?

Percy fails at keeping Luke from falling down that path. Percy shows up at camp as a 12 year old and Luke is like "oh, maybe you share the same parent" but the whole Poseidon thing makes things a bit too impossible. Percy confesses he's a God, Luke is betrayed, falls under Kronos' thrall even faster. Inevitability.
