Brennan "in the same way your heart feels and your mind thinks, you, mortal beings, are the instruments by which the universe cares" Lee Mulligan and Brian "the world should have protected you but you have been asked to protect it, what an honor, what an injustice" Murphy really be out here trying to destroy my peace of mind
actually if youâre canadian please take a look at all the petitions currently up
if these petitions reach 500 signatures they must be addressed in the house and thatâs not even that many signatures so you see a cause you support you should sign it
Please share! only canadians can sign but for some reason itâs hard for international posts to get a decent reach on here.
i think (largely white) leftists on the wider internet think the chaz is an anticapitalist project but, like, the bagel place and and poke shop and hot dog stand are doing really good business. not everyone in there is an anarchist and in fact most people arenât. i think itâs a really beautiful project to prove seattle doesnât need police and we can look after each other, but itâs literally just neighbors looking after each other and in this case that does include bok a bok chicken among the art and the community gardening. local restaurants and breweries and even hair salons have provided space for aid stations and opened their bathrooms to protesters and that doesnât fit prettily into what i think a lot of leftists are hoping the chaz will be. and honestly thatâs ok! it isnât a white leftist project. itâs something black protesters of many political stripes are leading to try and keep the police from taking the precinct back. thatâs a noble goal on its own and fully worth prioritizing right now
these are chaotic times. the autonomous zone was born out of necessity, and all itâs going to be exactly what it needs to be in this place and time. quote some graffiti in the chaz, âblack rage and arguing is more radical than any dead white theorist. the revolution will be messy or it will be centrist bullshit.â just something to be mindful of

Oh right the death that only happens to people who die in police custody and has never been proven to actually exist. Canât believe I didnât think of that, thank you NYT for showing all sides of the issue.
A sudden acute case of âDie in Custody Syndrome,â the disease where you suddenly and inexplicably die in police custody
Abolish
ICE
Police
Prisons, Jails
Detention Centers, Concentration Camps
The US Military
The US Government
capitalism
All settler states on indigenous land
whiteness
From a completely naive perspective- what do we replace these institutions with? Whatâs the plan?
The short answer: We donât replace them.
Longer answer: ICE was only formed 17 years ago in 2003 and exists solely to punish, terrorize, and intimidate people of color from movement across settler imposed boarders. Get rid of it and replace it with nothing. Police were formed out of âslave catchersâ and repurposed after the 13th amendment shifted the practice of slavery from chattel slavery whereby people were legally owned as property by individual capitalists to a system where people were forced into labor by both the state and by private prisons. Their purpose is to protect capitalist âpropertyâ and to ensure the perpetuation of slave labor. Get rid of it and replace it with nothing. Prisons and jails are primarily for the purpose outlined above, but also as a form of punishment and containment of those classed as âcriminalsâ for various amounts of time. Instead of a system of criminalization as a form of assigning legal identity which allows the use of state violence, we can create systems of community accountability practices, robust survivor support systems, disability justice, harm reduction, and mutual aid. These will consist of entirely new frameworks for addressing harm by centering human needs and honoring a diversity of ways of being. Detention Centers and Concentration Camps are designed for the purpose of eugenics. Get rid of them and replace them with nothing. The US military exists to use violence and force as a tool of white supremacist imperialism. Get rid of it and replace it with nothing. The US government is a white supremacist settler state. Get rid of it and return all stolen land to indigenous nations. All settler states should be abolished and returned to sovereign indigenous nations. We donât need to, and shouldnât, replace settler states with other settler states. Whiteness as an ideology was created to justify racialized and ethnic oppression and eugenics. Get rid of it and replace it with nothing.
Hereâs a link to a Google Doc with a bunch of Indigenous organisations which you can donate to, including Black Rainbow (LGBTQIA+ Indigenous organisation) and groups that support incarcerated Aboriginal people and work towards ending Indigenous deaths in custody

READ THIS THREAD!
tw transphobia, sexism, abuse, police brutality
Transcription of screenshotted tweets:
Twitter user Julia Dupuis, @juliacdupuis
"I was arrested on June 2nd, 2020 with around 100 other protesters in Los Angeles. While I was ziptied and facing the wall, two male officers joked behind me about my gender presentation: "Do you think it's a female? Are you sure?"
They then proceeded to start patting me downâtouching my breasts and my front/back pockets, still laughing. Finally, one of them admitted," We shouldn't be doing this." Then they called over a female officer to search me. Their names are Officer Cho and Codilla of the LAPD.
I was not the only gender non conforming protestor to be called "it." There were trans/non-binary protestors divided into the 'male' and 'female' buses and deliberately misgendered. I was also not the only protestor to be sexually harassed or made uncomfortable.
After being held for over 4 hoursâwith protestors vomiting, fainting, forced to pee in their seats, losing circulation in their bruised wrists/armsâmany began to advocate. We demanded access to bathrooms, water, and medical attention. We held them accountable to the law.
The only response was an officer telling us to "stop acting like high school girls." We were held even longer, watching other buses with prisoners being processed and released. When I got off the bus, an officer said, "Now that you're acting reasonable, we let you off the bus."
We spoke up about LAPD abuse and were punished for it. They heard us begging and screaming for medical attention and chose to keep us there for 5 1/2 hours to silence us.
After the zip ties were cut off, I was threatened by an officer who said: "Stop it with the attitude. This is us being niceâI can make this much worse for you." In response to us advocating for our rights, they told us: "You have no rights here."
This is what protestors are facing. This is the violence and harassment police have been using to silence us, wear us down, and force us off the streets. Even without rubber bullets, tear gas, and batons, they have other means of physical and emotional violence.
This is just a taste of the brutality that black and brown people experience with police. It is a privilege to be shocked by this. It is a privilege to be violated and humiliated for the first time. And I'm sure that my whiteness protected me in custody as it did on the street."
end description.

Big Warning
If you see a police car or a cop with a speaker looking thing on it, FUCKING RUN. It's known as an LRAD (Long Range Acoustic Device), a device that, when activated, can permanently damage your hearing and cause serious harm. If you're too close, you'll be left in a lot of pain and squirming on the ground permanently deaf. Ear plugs do not work. Unless you have one of those shooting range headphones, you do not stand a chance against them. Again, if you see them pull up, RUN. This is what they look like.
Stay safe.
This is why itâs important to SAY HER NAME OUTLOUD!!! Black women are dying and deserve justice too.

cis women will make a hundred posts talking about how ugly common physical characteristics of men are and not think about how that makes trans women feel who also look like that and then call themselves allies for reblogging shut the fuck up terf 3 times a week
i stand by this post 100%. happy pride bitches.
A million angry, unemployed, fucking restless new yorkers vs 36,000 worn out demoralized cops
