Something that's been bothering me for a little
Some whenever days ago, I shared this meme where it was of a person being frustrated (?) That he has to share his life story again when meeting someone new. And it ... Kind of hit me in a way just because it's difficult needing to do so when you want to or start to get close to someone
Eventually, the new person will have to know part of my past because well... It's part of me... And it still is a reoccurring thing.
One side ... I acknowledge of my troubled mental past being in hospital, medications, years of therapy... But on the other side , it's wondering if it's something another person can work with. I don't want another person to heal me or anything but it's a taxing stressful relationship when i do hit my lows, when my anxiety is high, when i start having my panic attacks, my anger...
I started speaking with someone within this past months and ... It's fun. I like it. Talking to this person reminds me of how i could be; how i was - more positive, passionate about topics serious or not, happier. And just thinking about needing to reveal, again, about this issues is difficult.
I don't want to be a burden because I remember how... Sweet and nice and smart i was and could be. I don't want it to weigh down on any relationships but i know that it's a lifelong thing

Kilroy Was Here!
Heâs engraved in stone in the National World War II Memorial in Washington, DC â back in a small alcove where very few people have seen it. For the WWII generation, this will bring back memories. For younger folks, itâs a bit of trivia that is an intrinsic part of American history and legend.
Anyone born between 1913 to about 1950, is very familiar with Kilroy. No one knew why he was so well knownâŚ.but everybody seemed to get into it. It was the fad of its time!
At the National World War II Memorial in Washington, DC
So who was Kilroy?
In 1946 the American Transit Association, through its radio program, âSpeak to America,â sponsored a nationwide contest to find the real KilroyâŚ.now a larger-than-life legend of just-ended World War IIâŚ.offering a prize of a real trolley car to the person who could prove himself to be the genuine article.
Almost 40 men stepped forward to make that claim, but only James Kilroy from Halifax, Massachusetts, had credible and verifiable evidence of his identity.
âKilroyâ was a 46-year old shipyard worker during World War II (1941-1945) who worked as a quality assurance checker at the Fore River Shipyard in Quincy, Massachusetts (a major shipbuilder for the United States Navy for a century until the 1980s). Â
His job was to go around and check on the number of rivets completed. (Rivets held ships together before the advent of modern welding techniques.) Riveters were on piece work wagesâŚ.so they got paid by the rivet. He would count a block of rivets and put a check mark in semi-waxed lumber chalk (similar to crayon), so the rivets wouldnât be counted more than once.
                   A warship hull with rivets
When Kilroy went off duty, the riveters would surreptitiously erase the mark. Later, an off-shift inspector would come through and count the rivets a second time, resulting in double pay for the riveters!
One day Kilroyâs boss called him into his office. The foreman was upset about unusually high wages being âearnedâ by riveters, and asked him to investigate. It was then he realized what had been going on.Â
The tight spaces he had to crawl in to check the rivets didnât lend themselves to lugging around a paint can and brush, so Kilroy decided to stick with the waxy chalk. He continued to put his check mark on each job he inspected, but added âKILROY WAS HERE!â in king-sized letters next to the checkâŚ.and eventually added the sketch of the guy with the long nose peering over the fenceâŚ.and that became part of the Kilroy message.
Kilroyâs original shipyard inspection âtrademarkâ during World War II
Once he did that, the riveters stopped trying to wipe away his marks.
Ordinarily the rivets and chalk marks would have been covered up with paint. With World War II on in full swing, however, ships were leaving the Quincy Yard so fast that there wasnât time to paint them. As a result, Kilroyâs inspection âtrademarkâ was seen by thousands of servicemen who boarded the troopships the yard produced.
His message apparently rang a bell with the servicemen, because they picked it up and spread it all over the European and the Pacific war zones.
Before warâs end, âKilroyâ had been here, there, and everywhere on the long hauls to Berlin and Tokyo.Â
To the troops outbound in those ships, however, he was a complete mystery; all they knew for sure was that someone named Kilroy had âbeen there first.â As a joke, U.S. servicemen began placing the graffiti wherever they landed, claiming it was already there when they arrived.
As the World War II wore on, the legend grew. Underwater demolition teams routinely sneaked ashore on Japanese-held islands in the Pacific to map the terrain for coming invasions by U.S. troops (and thus, presumably, were the first GIâs there). On one occasion, however, they reported seeing enemy troops painting over the Kilroy logo!
Kilroy became the U.S. super-GI who had always âalready beenâ wherever GIs went. It became a challenge to place the logo in the most unlikely places imaginable. (It is said to now be atop Mt. Everest, the Statue of Liberty, the underside of the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, and even scrawled in the dust on the moon by the American astronauts who walked there between 1969 and 1972.
In 1945, as World War II was ending, an outhouse was built for the exclusive use of Allied leaders Harry Truman, Joseph Stalin, and Winston Churchill at the Potsdam Conference. Itâs first occupant was Stalin, who emerged and asked his aide (in Russian), âWho is Kilroy?â
To help prove his authenticity in 1946, James Kilroy brought along officials from the shipyard and some of the riveters. He won the trolley carâŚ.which he attached to the Kilroy home and used to provide living quarters for six of the familyâs nine childrenâŚ.thereby solving what had become an acute housing crisis for the Kilroys.
The new addition to the Kilroy family home.

A personal noteâŚ.
My Dadâs trademark signature on cards, letters and notes to my sisters and I for the first 50 or so years of our lives (until we lost him to cancer) was to add the image of âKilroyâ at the end. We kids never ceased to get a thrill out of thisâŚ.even as we evolved into adulthood.Â
To this day, the âKilroyâ image brings back a vivid image of my awesome Dad into my headâŚ.and my heart!
Dad: this oneâs for you!
Somebody put Kilroys all over the welding lab at my school!
The original meme
Jesus Christ was a brown Jew in the Middle East, conceived out of wedlock in an arguably interracial if not interspecies (deity and human) relationship, raised by his mother and stepfather in place of his absent father. Â He may not have had a Y chromosome. Â He spent his early youth as a refugee in Egypt, where his family no doubt survived initially on handouts from the wealthy (You think they kept that gold, frankincense, and myrrh from the wise men? Â Hell no, they sold that stuff for food and lodging). Â He later returned with his parents to their occupied homeland and lived in poverty.
The religion of Jesusâs people has no concept of a permanent hell and instructed its priests on how to induce miscarriages.  Jesus explicitly rejected the concept of disability as a divine punishment.  He spoke out against religious hypocrites.  He had enough respect for women to let his mother choose the time of his first miracle.  He blessed a same sex couple.  He told a rich man that he must give up his wealth to get to heaven, and also told a parable about a rich man suffering in agony in presumably Gehinnom (basically Purgatory) just to hammer the point home.  He told people to pay their taxes.  He declared âlove your neighborâ to be one of the two commandments on which all laws hang.  He commanded his followers to help the poor.  He commanded them to help the sick and the needy. He spent time with social outcasts.  He healed the servant of a high priest during his arrest rather than fighting back.  He was put to death by the occupying government because he was a political radical.
Trump and his administration are xenophobic, misogynistic, racist, fear-mongering, warmongering, tax-dodging, anti-Semitic, anti-choice, anti-welfare, anti-equal pay, anti-LGBTQIA+, anti-immigration, support tax cuts for the rich, support Citizenâs United, want to keep refugees out of this country, want to limit our ability to speak against the government, plan to abolish the Affordable Care Act, and they wrap all of that up behind a banner of âChristian family values.â  If you support them, you have no right to call yourself a follower of Christ.
itâs so rare, yet so fulfilling, to see the J-man on my dash
One of my friends is literally the most religious Christian I have ever met. What does that mean in regards to her lifestyle and outlook? She loves everyone. EVERYONE. Unconditionally. And she supports healthcare and education and birth control and everything thatâs necessary to have a healthy, stable society.
Because thatâs what her homeboy JC would want.
Also I love that OP acknowledged the ACTUAL Jewish teachings Jesus would have been drawing from, rather than antisemitic stereotypes and the concept that he, rather than his followers, started Christianity.
While there are things in his teaching that are inconsistent with Jewish teaching and thought (âI am the way, the truth, and the lifeâ is the first one coming to my mind), his teaching was indisputably based in Torah and Jewish tradition; for example, the famous âthe most important commandment is to love G-d, the second is to love your neighbor as yourselfâ can be traced DIRECTLY to Torah, in which the commandment âbe kind to the stranger among you, as you were once strangers in Egyptâ is repeated not once, not twice, but THIRTY-SIX times. This specific number, along with the fact that itâs repeated more than any other commandment in Torah, would in fact seem to mark it as the most importantâand thereâs even a midrash in which the famous rabbi Hillel agrees, stating: âthat which is displeasing to you, do not do to others. The rest [of Torah] is all commentary. Now go and learn.â
So bless you, OP, for acknowledging where Jesusâ value set came from, and also the antisemitism this administration has encouraged and fostered.
One of the most important things I learned in my Language and the Law class is that law enforcement will intentionally misinterpret every type of statement asking for a lawyer as not asking for a lawyer. Even directly saying it like this âI will not speak to you without a lawyerâ can be taken as a simple statement of fact rather than a request for a lawyer. You literally have to state âI am now invoking my right to a lawyerâ and every time they try to proceed with an interrogation you have to answer every question with âI am invoking my right to have a lawyer presentâ. You canât just tell them you wonât talk without a lawyer or that you want a lawyer. You have to state that you are invoking your rights. Otherwise they could just say âwell they just said they wouldnât speak without a lawyer present. Thatâs not invoking their rights to a lawyer. Itâs just stating a fact.â even just stating your right to a lawyer doesnât count!
PLEASE share this addition. I am a lawyer who works in criminal defense, and this is one of the most avoidable things that people consistently get wrong about the Miranda rights.
Here are some more âambiguousâ phrases which courts have found DO NOT invoke your right to a lawyer:
âMaybe I should speak to my lawyer first.â
âI might like a lawyer.â
âI think I should have a lawyer present for this.â
âCould I speak to my lawyer first?â
âHow long until my lawyer gets here?â
And perhaps most egregiously â âGet me a lawyer, dawg â âcause this is not whatâs up.â
Here are the magic phrases which you need to know if you want to invoke your Miranda rights:
1) âAm I free to leave?â
Itâs worth asking this even if the answer is obvious. Even if the officer does not let you leave, by forcing them to admit that you are not free to leave, you are creating a record which your attorney can use to prove that you were in custody. Miranda rights only apply if the interrogation is custodial, meaning that police officers will frequently claim that their suspects were ânot in custodyâ to get around their Miranda rights.
2)Â âI am invoking my right to remain silent.â
Simply staying silent will not invoke your right to remain silent. As absurd as this is, you must explicitly say that you are invoking your right to remain silent in order to invoke that right.
3)Â âI am invoking my right to an attorney.â
As stated above, you must be not only clear and unambiguous, but clear and legally unambiguous. Donât get cute. Donât get sassy. And on the flip side, donât get intimidated and use verbal ticks to minimize your request. Say the line with those words exactly â say it clearly, and say it once, and then say nothing else.
Because even after youâve done all this, the police can still try to get you to talk. Theyâre not supposed to interrogate you, but theyâre allowed to make casual conversation, and if that conversation just happens to circle back around to the thing they wanted to question you about, well, thatâs really your fault for talking after you said you wouldnât, isnât it? Canât possibly fault the poor officers when you initiated â if you really wanted to have your rights respected, you wouldnât have talked to them in the first place.
The police know this, and they will mercilessly exploit this loophole. So, once youâve successfully invoked your Miranda rights, any and all conversation you have with police officers will put those rights back into jeopardy.Â
Putting it all together:
Ask: âAm I free to leave?â
If they say no, say:Â âI am invoking my right to remain silent and I am invoking my right to an attorney.â
And then shut up and do not say a single thing to them for any reason whatsoever until you have actually spoken to an attorney. Yes, even if it takes hours. Yes, even if they start talking to you about something else.
Finally, a very important disclaimer:
I may be a lawyer, but Iâm not your lawyer, and I cannot guarantee that what Iâve just laid out here will always work for every situation. We didnât get to this bizarre and absurd place overnight â we built this ridiculous system piecemeal, by deciding on a case-by-case basis that certain phrases were âtoo ambiguousâ or certain types of questioning werenât actually questioning at all. The law is still in flux, and is still fundamentally out to get you, and willing to bend plain meaning beyond all recognition to do it. Even if you invoke your rights perfectly, exactly as I have specified above, thereâs a chance that your invocation of rights will be disqualified on some new technicality that no oneâs even thought of yet â and thatâs precisely the problem.
Watch this video: âDonât Talk To The Policeâ
And do this even if you have actually done something wrong and want to take responsibility for it. Rights arenât just for wrongly accused people and you cannot count on the police to do the right thing because youâre trying to do the right thing. You may end up charged with far more or worse than what you actually did. Even if, in the best possible scenario, you deal only with honest officers who bear you no malice, they could make honest mistakes that put you in a worse position, and you may not notice because youâre not familiar with all the rules theyâre supposed to follow. Your lawyer should know all about that and can speak up for you if procedures are not followed properly. Good luck!
idk if any of this works for Black people but just gonna reblog so we at least have the knowledge

Voter suppression is on the rise. Again. And unsurprisingly, itâs Republicans who are doing it.
I would like to point out that, this isnât Russia doing this. It isnât China. These arenât Russian bots. These are Republican politicians and the disproportionately white voters who very reliably support their draconian policies.
In the 2016 election Republican legislators enacted racist voter ID laws, then they closed down driverâs license offices near black communities so that the required ID was harder to get, they closed down record numbers of polling places in black neighborhoods, they used the Supreme Court to gut the Voting Rights Act, they purged thousands of eligible, legally registered black people from voter rolls, they used gerrymandering to dilute the vote of black people, and Republicans continue to use mass incarceration as another indirect means of voter suppression.
Iâve said it before and Imma keep on saying it: Republicans are a bigger threat to progress, social justice and democracy than any foreign power could ever hope to be.

This is probably the most important issue that should be worked on by any activist that wants to avoid armed revolution.
