I've been having fun changing my avatar's outfit to sort of correspond with the Digimon I'm raising in Digimon Up. Very loosely. There is an okay amount of customization available but it's weirdly rng based and there are only three colorways per item? I'm doing my best.
The left one is what my avatar looked like while I was raising the Palmon line. The hairstyle is close-ish to season 1 Mimi, but there really aren't any pink outfits so I went with a green dress to match Palmon.
Middle is for when I was raising Hawkmon. There really isn't any purple hair so I got close-ish, and there's a feather headband for some strange reason. The overalls are something that Yolei would probably wear, but the colors aren't bright and garish enough lol
And finally there is just nothing even close to Rika's hairstyle, so instead I went with pink braids, a miko-looking outfit, and a fox mask for while I'm raising Renamon.
This game is kind of just nothing. I'm enjoying it right now but I will definitely get tired of it eventually. I don't know what they could add or change about this game that wouldn't just morph it into some other kind of game entirely. The artwork and sprites are gorgeous, so I hope they get repurposed either officially or unofficially into something else.

call me crazy but I think it'd be easier if surgeons learned how to operate on fat bodies instead of expecting every single fat person to lose weight before getting surgery

Authors, agents, publishers: every part of the industry is seeing the strain of five years of escalating anti-LGBTQ censorship.
if you'd like to show support, here are some upcoming queer books:
When Life Gives You Corpses is a brilliant YA about a cursed praying mantis who falls for a young witch. Yield Under Great Persuasion is a raunchy, but surprisingly sweet story about two men repairing their relationship. Fabulous Bodies is a horror story about a queer rockstar rising from the dead.
This is Where the Future Bleeds is a fantasy set in a vividly imagined land, where two women (who happen to kiss) are the key to healing the broken sky. You're No Better is a story about a teen struggling in the shadow of his murderous parent. Oil on Canvas is about a woman who finds disturbing paintings in the home of her dead mother.
and then here's a list of 26 queer books by Black authors set to publish this year, and a 10 upcoming books by trans authors. if you want to fight back against queer censorship, use your wallet! or (if that's not an option) you can contact your local library and ask them to stock a copy.
In addition: looking for indie publishers and queer bookshops is a great way to find and support queer authors and stories of so many infinite varieties! (The following suggestions are based on my UK-centric knowledge)
(Some) Queer Presses:
Lurid Editions are "a publishing project committed to intentional and conscientious acts of archival repair". They are "attentive to how marginalised histories are forgotten and remembered,Β [and] hungry to rediscover overlooked queer books". They've just received funding from Arts Council England to engage queer readers in a project to contribute to the archive!
Cipher Press "Weβre really keen on the idea that queer and minority stories are for everybody, and we want to make our books β and the stories they tell - accessible to all" (what an amazing mission statement!)
Anamot Press "Anamot [Τ±ΥΆΥ‘Υ΄ΥΈΥ©] means shameless in Armenian. β£β£Anamot Press publishes poetry and prose on intersecting experiences of gender, sexuality, race, migration, class, belonging and loss - with no shame."
(Some) Queer Bookshops
Queer Lit Oh man, I remember when this was just a tiny little shop, and now they're the biggest LGBT+ bookshop in Europe! They do amazing work in donating books about being trans to schools and parliament! They have a pay-it-forward board that will make you sob with its notes of love and support. (You can tell I wish I still lived nearby)
Lighthouse For Scottish friends - "a queer-owned and woman led independent community bookshop. We are an unapologetically activist, intersectional, feminist, antiracist, lgbtq+ community space"
Gay's The Word The OG Queer bookshop in the UK. One day I will make my pilgrimage!!
This really is just a tiny snapshot of all the amazing work of celebration and resistance that's being done for Queer literature at the moment. We live in frightening times, but I promise there is still lots of love and joy and hope out there in spaces like these. Support them in whatever way you can!!
this queer author is so very tired but I have a queer cozy fantasy that's out now (left) and a queer cozy horror that releases in July (right), both adult
The Keeper of Lonely Spirits is about an old man cursed with immortality, loss, grief, and the meaning of home
The Lord of the Wood is about a man having a queer awakening in an enchanted forest, the sister who comes after him, and realizing worth doesn't lie in usefulness
It's Totally NOT the Reason βοΈ (feat. Aryan Simhadri)
I WILL NOT BE SHUT ABOUT THIS FOR WEEKS.
found this in one of the news articles
I canβt decide whether seven bushmaster bites means you should stay away from bushmasters or declare yourself bushmaster king
Out of curiosity, I looked this up to verify the details. The name of the establishment was the Cape Fear Serpentarium and this tale is everything promised.
So the ownerβs name was Dean Ripa, and he died in May 2017. His wife, Regina Ripa, was found to be unable to distinguish right from wrong at the time of the murder, was ruled not guilty by reason of insanity, and was committed to a psychiatric care facility instead of being convicted. In real life, this is an extremely rare ruling, and from what I read, she had a history of instability where she suffered from delusions and paranoia. When law enforcement had come out to the residence earlier that day because of a call she made, Dean, her husband, did in fact tell the officers she was genuinely unwell and needed to take her medication.
Their child was, at the time, three, and was unharmed in the incident. As the child was the rightful owner of Dean Ripaβs estate, the Serpentarium was unable to remain open legally. Being a child, they were unable to legally hold the necessary permits for the snakes their father had on the premises. A family friend had attempted to keep it going, but it looks like it was legally too complicated.
There was an article written about the site and Dean Ripa himself in the Oxford American that was posted posthumously. It provides a lot of detail and background on Dean Ripa, who was, to put it mildly, an intense man.
There are pictures on Trip Advisor of the exhibits.

OH LAWD HE COMIN
recently some have pointed out that there are shows and movies from pre-shortform that seem optimised for youtube shorts format because they're made up of a string of mildly interesting but not especially compelling situations. by similar measure, gundam wing has the distinction of being optimised for AMVs
it is astonishing how much nothing happens in that series. you could watch the AMVs and stitch together a narrative with what you've seen of the promo art where the boys are doing turn of the century activities, but rest assured, to go between the interesting portions of wing is to subject yourself to the emotional realities of space travel
it's so hardcover β> we're so paperback
this post is making me pronounce hardcover in a way i never considered
Actually, no, I don't think that friendships dropping like flies in your late 20s and early 30s because no one has time for that between overwork and family obligations and marriage and kids and partners and the ritual of the time slayer is normal and ok. No I don't think deep conversations and spontaneous adventures being replaced with a tired coffee every six months is a normal part of growing up. I don't think that emotional intimacy and soul bonds disintegrating in the face of practical inconvenience is a fact of life. I think that means something is deeply deeply wrong with our society and I will never forgive it for the friends I've lost
