People 10 and 20 years older than me are writing your favorite fanfics, and drawing your favorite characters. You'd have no fandom without the people you think are 'too old' to have hobbies.
This mentality is so insanely frustrating. Why do teenagers think that people have to give up their hobbies, give up fun, when they reach a certain age? Like??
When I was a teenager writing fic, I remember finding out that one of my favorite authors was in her 50s and that just was SUCH a revelation for me!! What do you mean, 50 year olds can write fanfic?!? Does that mean I can write fics when I'm her age?? That's AWESOME! I seriously looked up to her so much. And now I'm 35 with a husband and kid, and I'm still writing fanfic and posting fandom content - and I have no plans of stopping!
If you try to drive 30+ people out of fandom, you're going to lose the backbone of said fandom!
The ageism in fandom is fucking insane. It’s strange that people seem to have the idea that fandom was created by and for teenagers… It was not. It was created by adults. How would we have ao3 if only teenagers were in fandom?
I don’t want to sound like I am hating on younger people in fandom, but god, y’all need to stop it with the ageism. You don’t have to give up what you love once you’re an adult. Honestly, the belief that you have to is pretty bad. It sounds like it would make people afraid of aging. Granted, modern society is so very afraid of aging.
Don’t give up what you love just because you’re an adult. You don’t have to. And don’t try to force others to do it either.
There is a famous dedication by CS Lewis, where he says "To Lucy. Someday you will be old enough to start reading fairy tales again."
I think many of us go through stages when we are younger where we think we have to give up certain things because we are too "grown up" for them now.
But when you are actually grown up, you realize that is nonsense.
Life is too short, and it is hard enough without depriving yourself of things that bring you joy. As long as you are not hurting anyone, do what makes you happy.

What do you think — why was Comic‑Con so short this year for The Vampire Lestat? We only had 2 interviews besides the main panel. I don’t think it’s because the season just ended. In 2024, Comic‑Con was also held 2 weeks after the finale of season 2, but we had 2 full days and lots of interviews.
Because “The Vampire Lestat“ was not there, ultimately.
One can find that fair or not, but that is what it boils down to. Personally I would have hoped for a bit more as well btw.
Does Lestat turning down his name and going by Lestat de Valois happen in the book? And if so, why does he begin going by de Lioncourt again later on?
Yes, that is book canon.
He drops the name “de Lioncourt“ because of the French Revolution and it revealing him as nobility, putting him into danger of getting executed.
He uses his real name later on once more because he can, ultimately, both bc the French Revolution is eventually over and him being a vampire and… somewhere else.

Do you think Louis will worry about Lestat while he’s with Akasha? I remember that in the book he was afraid she had killed Lestat, because no one could get in touch with him. And only when Marius confirmed that Lestat was alive did Louis calm down.
Yes. Louis will worry. A LOT.
Remember, no matter how the show will spin it, this is after the bench now, after the reunion on the bus. After they BOTH started to dream of a future together once more.

Hi, Nalira! Please tell me if there was a place where witches were burned in the book The Vampire Lestat. I seem to remember that Lestat went to that place because he’d heard stories about witches being burned there, and he kind of sympathized with them, but I don’t remember if that actually happened in the book or if I’ve mixed up scenes from the show and some fanfics in my head.
Yes. There is a place like that in the book and Lestat went there as a child (with others and the priest) and later with Nicki :)
The Louvre
I think the only thing I didn't like about the season is how big bad wolf, Louis's song is much more violent and degrading than big boss, Armand's song.
It also bothered me that Lestat only calls muse Louis to sing big bad wolf in his face to directly insult him...
But I guess it's my fault for creating expectations based on the first two seasons where Louis talked shit about Lestat all the time but it was obvious he still loved him.
I just didn't feel that way about Lestat during that season while they were apart.

Was it? Put yourself in Lestat's shoes.
Because Lestat believed Louis never loved him. The book made Lestat believe that Louis despised him and, according to Sam, it made Lestat feel like a foolish idiot for ever seeing his relationship with Louis as love, because of course Louis could never love the likes of him. It wasn't until Lestat was able to recontextualize everything at the long table after the events of Episode 6 that he realized yes, Louis had actually always loved him.
The show could've done a better job conveying that, imo. The damage to Lestat from the book wasn't made clear enough, but it was there. As I said, it made Lestat feel like everything he'd always felt about their love story was a lie, and he says it to himself at the long table —
Rots in a rotting robe in a rotting shack in the rotting city. A tragic crippled thing, playing a plank for a piano, waiting for a hug. He sits on a bench like a stupid idiot in a fog he mistakes for love.
He waited for Louis for decades. He sits on a bench like a stupid idiot in a fog he mistakes for love. That's how Lestat saw it. He was a "stupid idiot" for ever thinking it was love. He was foolish for ever believing Louis could love him.
I told you guys this is what the book would do to Lestat and, understandably, he lashes out with hurt and bitterness. So I'm really not sure why people act so affronted with songs like Big Bad Wolf, because how did you expect Lestat to react when that scathing portrait of lies is what Louis (and Daniel) put forth into the world? And the reunion made that hurt all the more detrimental to Lestat, because he'd been in contact with Louis for almost two years under the belief they were healing and moving forward and then here's this book of bullshit, and Louis never said a word to him about it. It was a huge, hurtful betrayal that made Lestat question everything and for someone who loves Louis as much as Lestat does and for someone who only ever wanted Louis to love him back, of course you get songs like Big Bad Wolf. Like I said, how did you expect Lestat to react?

It seems like people have 2 interpretations of the "next time someone tries to murder me, pick up your phone". For you, does it mean Lestat had tried to call/text Louis and Louis ghosted him or does it mean that Lestat didn't try to call Louis but wanted Louis to call him? (Yes I know, in both cases, it shows that Louis wasn't there for Lestat, but I'd like to know how you interpreted that line)
I mean Sam said that Lestat tried to reach out to Lestat but Louis had blocked him in one of the recent interviews?!

In the show I would say - especially after the Merrick reveal (has been finally established) - that it was more emotional incest from Louis‘ side. Furthered and nourished by her, obviously intentionally (yes).
This is why she was in his thoughts during sex after all. For example.
But I do not think it was on book level, certainly not physical in the show.
