i can't say i'm totally shocked

okay but an actual serious post for once but Rimmer finding out his father isn’t actually his father and that he wasn’t shackled to expectations from a military family anymore was actually such a great moment. I wish they had done more with it. I do genuinely believe a lot of his more negative, old fashioned opinions come from those expectations and seeing him embrace that he doesn’t have to let this affect him (even if it was brief) was just…I’m just so happy for him.

when fics emphasize how alone Lister really is by describing the humming of Rimmer's light bee, how the hologram feels staticy to touch, how he is either ice cold or just ever so slightly warm (like an overworked machine is warm) to really hammer home 'this man is not alive, you are squabbling with a ghost' 👌👌
