where are they eyebrows?!?!????
this is good
I’d just like to add, see how they behave when they’re angry/frustrated/exhausted, and if you see something that concerns you, wait until they’re calm, and then talk to them about it.
My husband used to yell when he got frustrated, but after I explained to him that I found it upsetting, he stopped yelling and started consciously working on asking for help before he got to that level of frustration.
When I’m upset over something, or just in a bad mood, I tend to withdraw. My husband explained to me that it makes him feel like I’m mad at him, so now when I need some space, I’ll tell him what I’m upset about, or that I’m in a bad mood for no particular reason, and I need to be alone for a little while.
See your friends and partners at their worst, but don’t assume that their worst is immutable. If someone loves and cares about you, they’ll try to accommodate you to the best of their ability.
^^^^ This is the best advice I’ve ever seen on this site, and it is so important. Communication is everything, and is 80% of the reason my husband and I have such a healthy, strong, and supportive relationship.
I’d also like to add the ability to see when YOU are the one being toxic. There’s a lot in here about recognising it in other people but sometimes it’s even harder to see it in ourselves. We all are capable of developing behaviours and coping mechanisms that are unhealthy and potentially harmful to other people. If you realise that you’re mistreating your partner or at risk of doing so, it’s so important to be willing to work on yourself, to apologise and realise what you’re doing and fix it. Even if it means you need to go and get some help. If you and your partner love each other and are accepting of the realities, you can work through it together.
Spread this around; remind the world that for every Nazi, there’s an entire train full of sensible people capable of basic moral behaviour.

lioness you’re doing amazing sweetie
“This is your daily, friendly reminder to use commas instead of periods during the dialogue of your story,” she said with a smile.
“Unless you are following the dialogue with an action and not a dialogue tag.” He took a deep breath and sat back down after making the clarifying statement.
“However,” she added, shifting in her seat, “it’s appropriate to use a comma if there’s action in the middle of a sentence.”
“True.” She glanced at the others. “You can also end with a period if you include an action between two separate statements.”
Things I didn’t know
“And–” she waved a pen as though to underline her statement–“if you’re interrupting a sentence with an action, you need to type two hyphens to make an en-dash.”
You guys have no idea how many students in my advanced fiction workshop didn’t know any of this when writing their stories.
lately i’ve been replacing my “i’m sorry”s with “thank you”s, like instead of “sorry i’m late” i’ll say “thanks for waiting for me”, or instead of “sorry for being such a mess” i’ll say “thank you for loving me and caring about me unconditionally” and it’s not only shifted the way i think and feel about myself but also improved my relationships with others who now get to receive my gratitude instead of my negativity
This is some 2017 mood

A special message from Magic School Bus illustrator Bruce Degen and Ms. Frizzle!
my biggest pet peeve is when I call a boy pretty and about six people have their necks swivel all the way around on their shoulders exorcist style just to tell me that boys aren’t pretty they’re handsome
