Coolest palace guard I've ever met.
One of the palace guards at the Kraton of Jogjakarta during the Royal Wedding of Gusti Kanjeng Ratu Bendara (youngest daughter of Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X) with Kanjeng Pangeran Harya Yudanegara.

Enjoy :)

I can personally verify that “Rendang”, a curried meat dish that originated from Minangkabau, West Sumatra, is delicious indeed.
CNN’s Go readers agree, with over 5,400 votes for Rendang, in a recent Facebook survey on delicious foods.
Cheers,

Murid peserta Ujian Nasional tingkat sekolah dasar tahun 2011 menyeberangi Sungai Ciawi sambil digendong sukarelawan menuju sekolah di Kp. Peer, Desa Mekarsari, Kec. Pameungpeuk, Kab. Garut, Selasa (10/5). Jembatan gantung yang terputus akibat terjangan banjir bandang pada Jumat (6/5) lalu menyebabkan mereka harus menyeberangi sungai sambil mempertaruhkan nyawa agar bisa mengikuti ujian.

The Indonesian Flag: The red stands for courage, while the white stands for purity. The red represents human's body or physical life, while white represents human's soul or spiritual life. Together they stand for a complete human being.

Jadilah saja dirimu, sebaik-baiknya dirimu sendiri.

Cinematic Taxations
Has anyone else heard about the soon-to-be cinematic taxation law in Indonesia? Meaning no more imported movies. I understand that this is a patriotic blog that supposedly should somehow support this movement by the government as it somewhat benefits the country's economy and the Indonesian cinematography. But I'm sorry to say, I could not contemplate any sensible reason that makes this acceptable to be approved. First of all, we are not a communist country. In fact, communism is far from being legal. Recently we were named one of the most democratic countries in the world. So why does this not apply? Putting this law is similar to like adopting communism and slowly transforming this country into a communist country. Anyway, what do you think? For further argumentation, you could read this article: http://bit.ly/i8VYEt - G
MRT in Jakarta?
I think it's a great idea, if they made it sometime around 5 years from now .. Jakarta has flooding problems. And what if it floods?
Here's an idea. While they're at it, why not change all the Metro Mini and Kopaja buses with better ones? So middle class people would be willing to go on it and they wouldn't have to go on their personal vehicle. Also, it's better in reducing the pollution process. No more Jakmania going on Metro Mini and falling down into their deaths, because with better buses (hopefully) they won't be able to somehow rent those buses and create commotion. Herewith, we can get rid of the TransJakarta and their "busway" tracks that causes heavy traffic at certain times, and have bigger roads OR build sidewalks (which you can say, is essential).
I've always thought Indonesia was great at building. But what we lack on is we don't take care of the stuff that we build .. I'm blabbering here. I don't know what to say. Indonesia is a damn complicated country! But heck I love it more than anything!
It aches my heart to see Indonesians against each other. As Indonesians, we're supposed to live by the motto “Bhinneka Tunggal Ika”, which translates into “unity in diversity”. Up to this present time, I still cannot comprehend the government's terribly unwise indecision towards the disbanding FPI or any senseless extremist religious organizations, really. Of my 17 years of living in this world and being an Indonesian, I've always grasped the idea of Indonesia being a democratic but religious (but liberalized, in the sense not necessarily Muslim! as most of people would think) country with a background of law. Supposedly, my idea is entirely correct. But here we are, Indonesians against Indonesians. Just because we hold onto different religious beliefs, so we slaughter each other and burn each other's prayer homes. What happened to our motto? It doesn't seem to translate into our lives. If you truly are Indonesian, the least you can do is act like one. Living by the national motto is not at all difficult from any aspect. If you're unwilling, there's always another option which is leaving the country and acquiring a new citizenship in a “specifically religious” country. Let's see how you like it. Let's see how they would accept your shallow minds. For all I know, religion is a connection, a man with their God. Everything comes back to ourselves. I'm quite certain that in any of our Holy Books, no matter what religion you are, respecting other religions is strongly encouraged and in fact it's de rigueur. To acknowledge and respect each other is an essential gesture as a being on this earth.
Facts about the Indonesian Military.
Indonesia has the biggest and best weaponry in South East Asia called PT. Pindad, based in Bandung. No, it's not used Russian weapons or whatever you may have thought, it's brand new.
In the last ASEAN Army Rifle Meet XVI in 2006, Indonesia won first place with Pindad SS1 & Pindad SS2 rifles.
Before PT. Pindad moved to Bandung in 1923, it was based in Surabaya and was called Artillerie Constructie Winkel (ACW) originally established in 1808.
The Indonesian Army is 5th stronger in Asia, 1st in South East Asia and is qualified into the Top 15 in the world's list of most powerful armies.
Did you know?: Indonesia's Army strength is stronger compared to supposedly grand countries such as North Korea, Mexico, Australia, Norway, Denmark, Poland, Canada and Spain. Never would have guessed? Thought so.
According to data, Indonesia owns over 1500 aircraft. So the rumor about Indonesia only owning one fighter plane is indeed false.
Unfortunately though, it is true that Indonesia only owns 2 old submarines and no aircraft carrier.
The minimum contract to work in the army is 10 years.
The minimum age to enter the army is 18
Indonesia is the biggest contributor toward the United Nations (UN) Army Force
Indonesia became the second country after Thailand/Siam to acquire an Air Force Capacity
Truly inspiring :)
