I haven’t drawn that many overwatch pics before, so this was pretty fun!
I read up a bit on their backstories, and I got to study their outfits a bunch. The look quite straight forward and simple, but there are a LOT of details and stuff (Widowmaker has little spikes or something on her boots? Huh!). Very interesting!
I’d initially intended for her to be more balltied than this, but as I was googling balltie pics for inspiration, I came across one from centaurcelluloid.com, that had this kind of half ball thing that I really liked. Widowmakers design is so much about emphasizing her long shiny legs and her sleekness, so it seemed a shame to scrunch her up too much. So I ended up using that pic as a reference.
I always find it hard to do tight gags when I do fanart, because I get so concerned about having a face that looks “accurate” to the character.
So when I first sketched it out, I just gave her a cleave gag. And I thought it looked cute, but also a bit tame maybe.
So on my substar I also did versions with a bit more tape. And then 2 more with a lot more tape :D
