Think tanks explicitly founded to "abolish transgenderism" will publish a report that's like "there's no evidence that trans healthcare works if you ignore all the evidence" and be taken seriously, meanwhile actual researchers go "there's seriously NO evidence that gatekeeping helps" and get ignored
Like on the one hand there's new papers each year going "So it turns out that there's literally no fucking reason to restrict transition access based on these arbitrary criteria, and in fact, they were explicitly made up by some Danish fuck because he was personally obsessed with the idea that trans people were demons, and as it turns out the only measurable impacts of this policy are to increase risks to the patient" that have no impact on the healthcare systems they're criticizing whatsoever.
And then, on the other hand, you've got "Shockingly, this life-altering treatment that massively impacts how the patient is perceived by others in all facets of life is primarily supported by observational studies, as opposed to the enormous violations of bodily autonomy and human dignity necessary to perform a true randomized control trial. We recommend that treatment ceases immediately because you don't understand how evidence-based medicine works." And that becomes a linchpin of the politics of multiple European countries' trans healthcare politics for the next several years.
It's fucking clown world. Nobody who enabled this should be in a position of any power whatsoever.
social media is an experiment by the US government to make the population hate art by having operatives calling themselves artists be the most annoying people in recorded human history
in the early 21st-century, the “small business” was a sort of small temple run by a local warlord. Patrons could purchase small trinkets and be granted absolution for the sins of their empire. This was called “ethical consumption.”

reminder that diy hrt is not only objectively safe, but in a deeply transphobic world, is imperative to the safety and longevity of trans people.
Second time I've heard about diy being safer, so, in what way (s) is non-diy dangerous?
a few things:
pedantic, but the claim wasnt that diy is safe, wasnt that it is "safer", but in many ways it is.
doctors are often (read: almost always) uneducated on transgender health. from Continuing Gaps in Transgender Medicine Education Among Health Care Providers "few of [the endocrinologists] (11%) rated themselves as very compotent in transgender care. Consistent with their self report, only 5% correctly answered knowledge questions. Further, only 36% reported training in transgender care during endocrinology fellowship."
because of this, trans women are often prescribed doses of estrogen so low as to have very little feminizing effect. for example, the common dosing of 2mg daily estradiol tablets with 50mg daily spironolactone is generally not enough estrogen to dominate a woman's endocrine system, but is enough to strongly weaken her testosterone, which is likely to cause harm (your body needs a dominant hormone, it doesn't care if it's estrogen or testosterone, but not having either is directly dangerous). these doses also fail to meaningfully decrease risk of depression and its symptoms (self harm, suicide, etc).
in a deeply transphobic world, where trans rights are constantly under massive threat, anything which can give care to trans women is imperative to their safety.
felt like drawing some anthro Pinestar
what world do people imagine their fursonae exist inside of. I love how undefined it is. some people are like "this is my sona Hryàxe, a hybrid dragon with ice powers who has been alive through three astral ages and toppled many kingdoms of men" and someone else is like "this is my sona he's an arctic fox named blurt and hes a barista in Toronto who loves to play mahjong." And then blurt and hryàxe are lovingly having sex on a tropical beach somewhere. and I'm like how'd they get to the beach
can we kill Charlie kirk again that would just really cheer me up

computing technology has led to a marked increase in the efficiency of productive labour performed by many workers—under socialized control of the means of production this could significantly improve the quality of life of the masses, but under capitalism it only allows the bourgeoisie to appropriate an amazing digital surplus
When Tess Morgan's son came home with a tattoo, she was griefstricken. She knew her reaction was OTT (he's 21) but it signalled a change in their relationship
This is gold this, absolute gold, the most over the top melodramatic hysterical ridiculous thing I’ve ever read
This is actually so interesting to read- it’s from 2012 but its full of the same anxieties, even some of the same phrasing that many of the guardian’s later pieces on transness use. really hammers home how much of the terfism that emerged in the late 10s was middle class mothers angry at a loss of control over their adult children- whether that be their bodies or their friends or their opinions- and making that everyone’s problem because they have the power to do so
He says, “I’m still the same person.”
I look at him, sitting there, my 21-year-old son. I feel I’m being interviewed for a job I don’t even want. I say, “But you’re not. You’re different. I will never look at you in the same way again. It’s a visceral feeling. Maybe because I’m your mother. All those years of looking after your body – taking you to the dentist and making you drink milk and worrying about green leafy vegetables and sunscreen and cancer from mobile phones. And then you let some stranger inject ink under your skin. To me, it seems like self-mutilation. If you’d lost your arm in a car accident, I would have understood. I would have done everything to make you feel better. But this – this is desecration. And I hate it.”
