Problematic because: "She’s one of Mother Miranda’s Four Lords, rules Castle Dimitrescu with Bela, Cassandra, and Daniela, and regularly takes in servants/villagers who end up drained, killed, experimented on, or turned into part of the castle’s blood-and-wine operation. The game’s medical report says her Cadou mutation means she has to consume human flesh and blood to maintain her regeneration, and the castle notes describe her special wine, Sanguis Virginis, as “maiden’s blood.” She also helped create her daughters through Cadou experiments on young women, which makes the “protective mother” thing a lot more disturbing. She genuinely loves the daughters, sure, but the family business is still kidnapping, cannibalism, torture, murder, and turning local women into either wine ingredients or bug-vampire daughters."
Propaganda: 1. "Lady Dimitrescu is one of those characters where the fan response got so meme-heavy that people sometimes forget she’s actually a really solid horror villain. Yes, she’s tall and glamorous and says “manthing” like she’s allergic to Ethan personally, but the castle is horrific. The dungeons, the blood wine, the dead servants, the daughters hunting you through the halls - it all sells the idea that this beautiful aristocratic exterior is sitting on top of something completely rotten. I like her because she’s not just “sexy vampire lady”, she’s vain, cruel, theatrical, weirdly funny, and genuinely maternal toward her daughters in a way that doesn’t make her any less awful. If anything, it makes her more interesting, because the affection is real and the monster behaviour is also real. She can mourn Bela, Cassandra, and Daniela while still being the reason a lot of other families never see their daughters again."
2. "alcina is bad, yes, but i will say she understood the assignment. i do think people undersell that she actually does love her daughters, though. not in a healthy normal human way, obviously, because everything in that castle is deranged, but it’s not fake. she’s protective of them, furious when ethan kills them, and clearly sees them as family. that’s part of why she works for me. she’s not softened by motherhood, she just folds motherhood into the same scary aristocratic monster thing she already has going on."
3. "She has presence. She has the hat. She has the claws. She has that specific “how dare you inconvenience my murder household” energy. I don’t need her turned into a misunderstood girlboss who did nothing wrong, because she very obviously did many things wrong and decorated the building around them. I just think if a villain is going to run a cannibal vampire castle, she might as well be dramatic about it."
