I did end up rewatching It Chapter Two... my thoughts under the cut. This is still just for my own sake, so... Warning: there will be negative criticism (and spoilers).
Welp, that sucked. I thought it was gonna be better than Chapter One but I was sooooo wrong; it's just as bad. I really wish I had liked it (and, to be fair, there are some parts of it I do like) but all of my original gripes with the movie still stand, and then some.
Like why did they turn Mike into a crazy druggie conspiracy theorist? And why did they all act like he dragged them to Derry under false pretenses? (He literally tells them it's happening again. It's not like told them he was planning a fucking high school reunion.)
What really pisses me off is that they only agree to try and stop It because they think they'll die if they don't. Like who gives a fuck about all the kids It's killing, right? Georgie? Georgie who? He isn't even mentioned until halfway through the movie! Then Bill starts harassing the skateboard kid like a deranged maniac. (He even gives the perfect opening for the "you can't be careful on a skateboard" line from the book but the kid doesn't fucking say it!)
It reminds me of the "did you put your name in the goblet of fire" scene in HP. In the book, Dumbledore says it calmly. In the movie, he screams it like a madman. That's how every single thing in these movies feels (when they actually use scenes from the book, at least). Like they had the words, but not the meaning or emotion. It was clear that they at least read the book, but it was also clear that they didn't care about it. They were more concerned with making a gross-out gore fest than telling a meaningful story. Sure, they try to make meaningful moments, but they all end up falling flat because they never built up enough connection between the characters.
And then, the way that they defeat It is by... calling it names...
Ugh. Sure, whatever.
Though, credit where credit's due: I still cried when Eddie died (that might honestly be reason alone for me to end up buying the DVD). I do like that they made Richie gay (even though they could have handled it better). Bill Hader does a good job as Richie. And I am still so happy about the Paul Bunyan scene.
All that being said, as much as I think Chapter One and Chapter Two are bad movies, I think I can accept that. Because I still do have the 1990 adaptation. That one also has its own flaws, but it is at least a good movie that makes you care about the characters and their relationships to each other. And that's all that really matters to me.

people who write fics. how do you feel about comments on super old ones you wrote like 2+ years ago
Bringing this out of the tags:
A fic written 2 years ago is NOT OLD. Two years is nothing. Two years ago was yesterday.
Also I don't care if a fic is 10 years old. Leave those comments!! Even if you think the author isn't active, or moved on from the fandom, I promise you it will make them smile.
I commented on a fic that was 11 years old, and there was already a response by the time I got up the next morning. Comment on the fics, please, comment on them, I promise it'll make the author's day either way
I got a comment on a fic of mine this week that just read "TWO THOUSAND AND NINE?"
I replied to it within seconds, of course. someone commented on my fic
As @pentapoda put it in this post:
(transcript: Every time someone comments on my old fic, i feel like I'm an old actor getting paid residuals. Appreciate you, old-fic-commenters. Key source of emotional income, tbh.)
I rewatched the 1990 adaptation of Stephen King's It a few days ago and that inspired me to finally finish my reread of the book that I started like 9 years ago. Better late than never, right? This was the first time I've reread the ending, actually. I've reread like 3/4 of it a few times, but never the ending. I couldn't really remember how the final confrontation went, but I'm kinda glad because it was like reading it for the first time again. (And it blows me away every time I read it how good this book is).
I also rewatched It: Chapter One for the first time since it came out. I had some thoughts about it that I just wanted to get out for my own sake, so I will put those under the cut. Fair warning: there will be negative criticism.
