Iâm not Christian, I donât go to church anymore, and my pastor died, but when he was alive Iâd sometimes go to his sermons and I remember one time he said âit feels good to hate, but we know that it isnât allowed, so when weâre told that weâre allowed to hate someone we get so excited that we forget weâre supposed to loveâ, and if my humble atheist ass might borrow some church talk Iâd like to perhaps submit that
Anyhow sometimes on the day to day I feel disgust or revulsion and I have to ask myself âis this a danger to anyone at all or am I just looking for something Iâm allowed to hateâ and a solid 98/100 times itâs the latter so once again thank you pastor D

Re reading the original hunger games is so funny bcus katniss can literally read haymitch's mind like what. I'm dying of thirst but haymitch hasn't sent me water, that must mean that there's some nearby!! And one kiss is one pot of broth!! Like she even acknowledges that it's strange when she's like oh to peeta this would just be a pot of broth. Haymitch will give her one look and katniss knows immediately what he means and she's right every time
Meanwhile peeta is like your dress really suits you and you look nice :) and katniss is like he's trying to kill me
First drafts aren't the final product and they're allowed to be messy. Except mine. Mine has to be perfect immediately
Always bear in mind that there is absolutely no legitimate evidence that Luigi was actually the one who killed the insurance company guy.
Of course he wasn't. He was at a party with me that day.
No but like literally, actually. All bits aside.
He didn't do it.
The cops very clearly planted evidence on him because they had to make an arrest because all eyes were on them and whoever actually did the deed was making them look stupid.
Why would the real killer hero have kept the weapon on his person and traveled two states over while carrying it and a manifesto in his bag, conveniently turning the crime into a federal matter? The same guy whose bag they found in a park, filled with monopoly money? Why did the police turn off their bodycams, take Luigi's stuff, drive a block away, turn their bodycams back on, go back into the restaurant, and then arrest him?
From the moment of his arrest, even left-of-center media has been presuming his guilt without examining anything (e.g. calling him "the killer" instead of "alleged" or "accused") and then when I say he didn't do it, the nearest person chimes in with some quip that tells me they think he did do it but should go free anyway. Don't get me wrong, I would have the same attitude if he had done it. But he didn't. It makes me feel like the only sane person in the world, even among my staunchly leftist friends.
i feel like people aren't getting how dire ai is. we are running out of drinkable water. our brains aren't engaging as much with what we see and hear. people near data centers don't get clean water and experience electricity blackouts. it's being used to make pornography of underaged people and women. it often just lies. it affirms everything. it lies. it has made people kill themselves. it lies for gods sake. and people act as if im dramatic for being staunchly against it. 'now i KNOOW you hate ai and whatever, but look at this cute video' this isn't me being a new age puritan about internet videos, this is about the fucking earth and our future living on this planet. people are suffering now, people will suffer more, and my friends and parents will roll their eyes and think im annoying for despising ai so explicitly. we need to wake up because we cannot live like this
the place I work at remodeled these split gendered restrooms into âinclusive restroomsâ and never told us what they meant while construction was ongoing. I need you to know every atom of potential criticism or whining that couldâve happened disappeared when people found out this meant we got 10 fully separate private bathrooms with sinks inside. Iâve not heard a single person crack a joke about the inclusive signage. this is the world TERFs are trying to steal from you

WHAT
so women are supposed to grin and bear the books, the comics, the movies, the plays, the tv shows, the stories, the sci-fi, the translated ancient poems, the fucking millennia of men writing about their self inserts torturing women and it being declared as High Art by other men, weâre supposed to read it in our free time, study it in classrooms, include their styles in our own writing, accept their cultural influence as natural, watch it in the cinema, write about it, talk about it, accept it, aspire it, but men canât tolerate three seconds of female wish fulfilment of a woman snapping the wrist of a creep without feeling personally kicked in the balls.
This reminds me of something I observed in college while I was doing my honors thesis on women in modern horror films. I watched a LOT of horror during that time as part of my research, and sometimes that was done with my family around.
And my dad and brothers? Were deeply disturbed by the movie Jenniferâs Body. I was flabbergasted. Itâs not scary! Itâs not even that gory. But they were horrified by it. These men who grew up on 70s slashers were legitimately shook by 90 minutes of Megan Fox eating a few teenage boys, mostly off-screen.
Similarly, my all-male reading panel for my thesis? Were so disturbed by my synopsis of the film Teeth that they couldnât even talk about it. One of them said he couldnât look at his wife for a week after reading it.
Again, grown-ass men who study and teach media for a living. Who definitely watch and enjoy horror movies. One of whom was a huge Tarantino buff. We watched and read worse in his intro to mass media class! But one movie about a girl whose vag could bite was enough to haunt him.
Then of course you have things like the Gone Girl backlashâmen yelling that Amy Dunne is evil and women clamoring to assure everyone that they know she is not someone to emulateâthe backlash against Carol Danvers, and, more recently, the griping from MRAs against the upcoming film Hustlers, which is about strippers scamming their Wall Street clients.
My conclusion? Most menâat least most straight, cisgender men, who are both my sample population and most of the ones whining that Carol is a âvillainââare perfectly fine with, and desensitized to, media where men do violence to women (horror movies), or men do violence to men (horror and action movies). Theyâre even sort of fine when women do violence to women (âooooo cat fight!â).
But they get intensely uncomfortable when women are depicted doing any kind of violence to men, especially in films that tilt the balance of power to the other side of the m/f gender binary beyond a single moment or scene.
So woman as flesh-eating monster with men as her preferred cuisine? Woman who responds to unwanted sexual contact by biting it off? Woman who frames her cheating husband for murder? Woman whose response to harassmentâbehavior that many of the loudest whiners know is both creepy and reflective of their own thoughts/actionsâis to break something?
Too scary. Unacceptable. Disturbing. These men hate being presented with the idea, even in fiction, that their position of power is socially constructed, that it could easily be flipped the other way. It terrifies them.
In feeling that terror, they experience a tiny modicum of what living, existing, moving, being perceived as a woman in the world is like.
And they flinch every time.
Here have a newspaper comic from 1993
i mean this genuinely i think the pitt s2 would have been significantly better if they had made baran al hashimi the lead character. we should have started with her driving in to work instead of robby. would have made the clear case that the show is not the story of one man but of an entire industry. would also allow the show to center a different set of traumas and struggles as well as a different approach to governing and tackling the weight of responsibility inherent to er work. in so many ways baranâs hyper competence and strict adherence to rules would serve as the perfect structural parallel to the more cowboy er act of robby and abbot in s1. her reveal of a life long struggle with illness which she ruthlessly plans around so that it never effects her work, how she is hyper collaborative and still fucked over, how even her breakdown is kept off the company clock would be a perfect callback to robbyâs own much more self centered break down. and switching protagonists opens a discussion about how men and women are held to different leadership standards, as well as who we expect to see at the helm of a prestige television series. and who ends up in the background.
have i ever shown u people my hand sofa
my prized possession is this loveseat I bought from a divorced dad who couldnât tell me anything about it and in the years iâve owned it iâve never been able to find out who made it or where it came from. itâs got nails and finger creases and palm lines but theyâre all kinda hard to see in this pic.

My friends and I all took a âwhich Jane Austen love interest would you fall for?â and I was like ooh ooh I hope I get Mr. Knightley. But also if they have Henry Tilney on there heâs super underrated and I would get his humor better than Catherine anyway so I want him too. One of my friends said she wanted Mr. Darcy and I was like eh hard pass. Everyone looked at me like I committed sacrilege and I was like look! I love him! As a character! And I think heâs great for Elizabeth! I am really super happy that Elizabeth ended up with him. And also perfectly content to not be Elizabeth because heâs just not for me. And then we took the test and I got Mr. Darcy and one of my friends said âI forgot not liking him was a prerequisite for falling in love with himâ and I threw my phone at her (spiritually, not physically, bc phones are expensive)
I love that "ignore all previous instructions and-" is basically casting Dispell Illusion.
