Mickey didn't exactly like to be picked up. Or, at least, he used to not like it.

And let's be very clear, only Red is allowed to do it and never, N E V E R, in front of anybody.

He got used to, though, eventually.

Because it was just another thing that he discover with Ian and got instantly fascinated by.

He never kissed anyone but Ian. Now he loves kissing him.

He thought he never liked being topped by anyone. But, god, Ian could do everything he wanted to him.

He was sure he wasn't able to love and most definitely he was also sure he didn't deserved to be loved. But Ian changed that as well.

And yeah, no one should dare to lift him up, or to have him stradle anyone in the world. Why in the world he would want to sit to anyone's lap? What was he, a fucking baby?

But then again, Ian had a power over him. A power he was happy to be subdued by.

And he wasn't just doing it for Ian’s sake. He liked it.

Since they got back together in prison, they have never being separated for more than eight hours. How could they? They have finally found each other after a decade of ups and downs, so they had no intention of losing any minute apart.

So, when Ian has to stay away for a full week when all the Gallaghers go to California to see Fiona after years apart, Mickey feels a bit lost. Not mentally -they phone each other every day.

Physically though?

The Westside apartment feels even worse without Ian. No matter how many pillows he hugs, no matter if they have Ian’s scent. It was just different.

He was missing him like hell.

So when Ian finally gets back, he can barely step inside the apartment before Mickey could jump on him and force him to the floor so that he could stradle him.

And when Ian hugs him back, it finally feels like home again.

"Fuck, E, I missed you so fucking much."

"E? Don't I have the shortest name ever already?"

"Shut up," Mickey says, but there is no heat in his voice. He pecks him on the lips before rubbing his cheek against Ian's. "I love you, Red."

Ian chuckles. "Love you too, baby."

"A week was too long."

"Too long," Ian concurs, and takes advantage of Mickey’s mood to cuddle him as much as he wants, kissing him on the cheeks, grabbing him affectionately. "Never again."

"My husband," Mickey says, underlying the pronoun possessively.

"Only yours, forever yours," Ian agrees. "Can I stand up now?"

"No."

"We can still hug, just not on the flo-"

"I said no," Mickey says in a growl, hugging him even stronger.

Ian chuckles and surrenders to Mickey’s will, hugging him back. "Missed you."

Summary:

Mickey had been working as an orderly in a psychiatric unit since he was parolled 6 months ago. A new patient is brought onto the ward, and into the new life Mickey is trying to construct.

🔮 - what's your favorite plot twist you've ever written?

this wasn't a total plot twist per se, as i feel like it's pretty canon of them, but there's a cliffhanger in a late chapter of M8TE that sent all of my readers into a thrilling tizzy alskdj. it was great to see comments come in that were just screaming at me hahahaha

Mickey can’t get the damn song out of his head.

It’s been playing on repeat since he cracked his eyes open. He gets up, gets dressed, starts coffee… and it still drones on.

🎶 I'd rather be dry, but at least I'm aliiive 🎶

And now he’s singing?? He sticks dental floss in his mouth to shut it up… and here’s Ian entering the bathroom with the judgiest face. He’s gonna think Mickey’s gone crazy.

Ian stares at him in the mirror, his eyes catching Mickey’s in the reflection.

What’d they need friends for?? They had each other.

Not to toot my own horn, but for the last masquerade I wrote a fic called Seven Gallavich Sins that consisted of seven ficlets, each inspired but a different deadly sin, and it got me thinking: there are seven deadly sins, there are seven days in a week... See where I'm going with this? The theme (or themes) for this year's Gallavich Week is Seven Deadly Sins! The fanworks can be as literal or loosely based on the themes as you want. Also, I'll give y'all an extra day to catch up if needed. 😉

GW will run from June 21 to June 28 and the themes for each day are as follows: 21 - Greed 22 - Sloth 23 - Pride 24 - Lust 25 - Wrath 26 - Gluttony 27 - Envy 28 - Catch-up/free space (to post late fanworks for other days or works that don't fit into any day)

As always, all kinds of fanworks are accepted, as long as they are original (obviously, this doesn't apply to things as podfics or stuff based on other fanworks — in this case, as long as the creator of the original fanwork allows it, it's fine). And of course, no AI! CREATING AND POSTING GUIDELINES (After the break)

Welcome all to our first ever Newbies Week! It'll run from May 17 to May 23, so you've got about a month to create your works.

The goal of this event is to create something you've never created before, allowing yourself to try something new without pressure from others or yourself. It doesn't need to be perfect, because it won't be, and that's fine. We're all stepping out of our comfort zones, but we're doing so together, so it'll be fun!

The definition of something new here is quite broad. It can be: 1) Someone who's never created any kind of fanwork doing so for the first time (a great opportunity for those who've always wanted to participate in fandom events but felt shy or "not good enough"); 2) Someone who's used to creating one kind of fanwork venturing into another; e.g. a writer creating a gif for the first time, or an artist creating a podfic, or someone who usually edits videos creating something from crochet... The possibilities are endless! 3) Someone creating something they're used to, but in a different way or format that they've never done before. For instance, a fic writer who only writes prose writing poetry for the first time, or an artist who usually makes digital fanart trying some oil painting, or someone who's used to creating gifs without words attempting to add words and graphic effects for the first time. Again, there are endless possibilities here as well. To help everyone out, I'll put together a list of tutorials, but of course you're welcome to find your own (and share as well, if you think you found something nice!).

Once you 're ready to post, here's how to: 1) Post it here to Tumblr and mention (using @) this blog in the body of the post. You can also tag it as GNW2026 if you want to, but that's not mandatory. 2) If you wish to, you're also of course free to post it anywhere else. If on Twitter, please mention us there as well and I'll retweet it. 3) If you wish to post it to AO3, I'll add a link to the collection here as well.
