Part of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) involves regular activity scheduling, specifically activities that give you a sense of achievement. These make us feel good and motivated to continue fighting through each day.
Here's a list of activities you can do to experience a sense of achievement.
1. Playing games - especially those with a reward involved, such as side quests and completing levels.
Dancing - just dance, dance tutorials, freestyle dance, zumba
Push-ups, sit-ups, weight lifting
Walking - especially through nature
Try a new sport! Skating, football, netball, hockey, yoga, rock climbing
3. Complete a 5-minute self-care task
Open windows to let some air in
Try a new recipe! BBC Good Food, Tasty, Allrecipes, buy a cookbook from a charity shop
6. Dust - even just one surface, like a window or a shelf.
8. Re-organise part of your room - like a shelf, drawer, wardrobe
9. Deep clean your room -
Put items in the recycling
Donate or sell unused items
10. Eat something healthy
11. Update your CV/resume
Read a book you've been wanting to read
Read an online (educational) article
13. Create a to-do list and aim to complete 50-75%
14. Try a trivia quiz about a topic you know a lot about - kahoot, quizlet, sporcle
15. Plan a future activity - you don't have to actually do the activity anytime soon, but it's there all planned out for the future!
16. Complete some school work
17. Complete a task you have been putting off
18. Work towards a life goal! If you don't have any, set some!
Eat 1 extra portion of fruit/veg a day
Brush your teeth regularly
Find a new job - even if you like your job, just receiving other job offers can make you feel accomplished!
Learn a new skill or hobby - language, art, or sport
Enrol in a course - short or long
Overcome a fear - create a plan, research ideas
If you have any ideas that are not listed, please share them and I'll add them to the list!
