Students with ADHD are often misunderstood. They’re not lazy or unmotivated—their brains simply process attention, memory, and emotion...
ADHD Learning Strategies That Actually Work
Discover practical ADHD learning strategies that improve focus, reduce anxiety, and build strong study habits. Learn proven techniques that help students with ADHD succeed in school and beyond.
Tools that Help my ADHD Symptoms
1. Small Notebook
I use this notebook to write down my list of things to do each day. I use one side of the paper for an expansive list, and I use the other side to write only 3 tasks at a time to do. It is called the Triage Method and I found it through this video. Writing only 3 tasks at a time helps make tasks less overwhelming, which makes it easier to complete.
I also sometimes write out the hours of the day to fill in after I finish doing something. It helps me be more aware of what I'm doing throughout the day.
2. Weekly Planner
I use my physical weekly planner to plan out my week. I will write down events and appointments and when they happen. I make sure my planner is open, so I can see what is happening. I make sure to update it immediately if I am able, or I will forget. I do not like timeblocking, so I stick with horizontal planners.
3. Monthly Wall Calendar
I have a wall calendar that is in a place I can see it at all times. I write down events and appointments and their times. It helps to have lots of visuals to know what is happening and when.
4. Digital Wristwatch
This was a gamechanger for me. I bought cheap digital watches that have the month and date. I actually know the time and date. It helps me stay aware of time passing without my phone distracting me.
5. Visual Timer
I bought a cheap visual timer and it's been so helpful when doing monotonous tasks. I will shoot for 15-20 minutes instead of a full pomodoro 25/5, because it feels short enough to feel like I'm not bored out of my mind. I also have a visual timer app, but it can be a hit or miss because my phone is super distracting.
Beat the Distraction: How Rhythm Helps ADHD Teens Find Their Flow
If you’ve ever watched your teen drum their fingers on the desk or tap their foot endlessly, you know rhythm has a strange hold on kids with ADHD. What looks like “just fidgeting” might actually be a doorway into focus. Music and rhythm aren’t just hobbies, they’re tools. A 2023 University of Toronto study found that teens with ADHD improved attention and working memory after practicing rhythmic…
I've been using this technique and it has been working. It's a lot better than just using a giant list and getting overwhelmed because I haven't done anything on it. It's simple and compact, and helps me get things done

inattentive ADHD people: help like PLEASE. So behind with study, and I have a few days to put some really good work in or I’m kinda fucked. So any advice is appreciated. IDC how stupid it sounds, I am open to trying anything. My main issue is embarrassment that I’ll mess something up and the course leaders/teachers (whatever you call them in your region) will be mad. And ik that sounds a bit silly, because they never have been, (although one of them scares the shit out of me lmao) but it’s the way my mind functions. And I am a master procrastinator so it ends up in me just not doing work and tricking myself into thinking I can get like 4 assignments done in a day. So anything is appreciated xx
i finally found a way to organize myself and give me dopamine!
Basically, im homeschooling, so i don't have teachers, i mostly just use online textbook, study guide and past lessons to study, which can feel pretty overwhelming. Especially when you don't have discipline, I basically never know when to study or even what.
Some days ago i was looking at a free MIT course (Literary interpretation: Virgina Woolf's Shakespeare) and the Syllabus of the course made me so weirdly happy
Each class, the plan of the class was written, and it helped me want to study and don't feel overwhelmed
So i started making my own syllabus (syllabi? ive no idea how to use this word fr) for every subject, i did one for history-geography, and for french.
Im now basically my own teacher and it makes me weirdly happy, ive homeworks, tests, ive class scheduled (from 30min to 4hours long), basically ive a plan, and im finally studying without feeling overwhelmed, because i dont have to be at my desk thinking "well what do i do now?"
I know its pretty specific and so wont be helful to anyone i suppose, but i just want you to know that you'll find a way, that goes for you eventually. and it may change, im not gonna lie to myself and think it's gonna work forever, ive adhd i know better, but as long as it last and work it's okay
