The sequel to #TheTouristAttraction this book does not disappoint. I was literally laughing from the first line. My kids follow me on Instagram so I’m not typing what the first line is but trust me I was dying laughing. . I’m a total sucker for any book with an Alaskan setting. Doesn’t matter if it’s romance or tear jerker (I’m looking at you #TheGreatAlone) Alaska is a magical setting for a book. . Just as any great Christmas book or Hallmark movie can tell you there is always a big business owner (Lana) looking to take over the small town for its own good and then falls for a local business owner (Rick) who wears sweater or flannels not suits! Who works in a pool hall (bar, hardware store, teacher you get the drift) not a corner office! Mix in a Santa Moose on the loose and a great cast of secondary characters you have a winning Christmas book! . Alternating chapters between the story and a podcast transcript this tells the story of a champion college swimmer, who was destined for the Olympics, loses his scholarship and his future is dashed after he was accused of raping the granddaughter of the beloved police chief. The town is at odds, taking sides and Rachel is there for it all. . Rachel Krall is an overnight sensation and a household name after her season 1 of her true-crime podcast sets an innocent man free. Rachel decided to make this case the focus of her new season but what she doesn’t expect is being followed and hidden letters asking her to look into the death of Jenny, a local Girl who died 25 years ago. The official cause of death is drowning but there seems to be more to the case. The bigger question is what do these two cases have in common? . I read this book in a day. This was a PAGE TURNER. ⭐️Waiting For Tom Hanks⭐️ . 💫 Kerry Winfrey💫 . First of all Tom Hanks IS AN AMERICAN TREASURE! . This book is simply adorable and I loved it. I have been reading a lot of thrillers lately and this was the perfect break. . I love rom coms and this book focuses on Annie who is rom com obsessed and dreams of being the best Nora Ephron. She rewatches rom coms, like the comfort food they are, writes a screenplay and searches for her own personal Tom Hanks. A movie starts filming in her town (because of course it does) and she gets a job on the movie (because of course she does) and we have the perfect setting for a rom com, except it doesn’t go as smoothly as she expected. . ⭐️The Queen of Tuesday⭐️ . 💫 Darin Strauss💫 . Another super unique story! This fictionalized story takes a few real life events and creates a retelling of some parts of Lucille Ball’s life. The author’s grandfather did attend a party with Ball, coincidentally thrown by Donald Trump’s dad, but that’s where the similarities may end. This story focuses on a possible fictionalized affair between the author and Ball. . While I’m a fan of I Love Lucy I had no idea the powerhouse that Lucille Ball was. She was one half of the first high profile interracial marriage and showcased on tv. She was the first pregnancy filmed on tv. Also, because of her irl pregnancy she wanted to film the show in LA which was unheard of at the time. She owned more movie sets then any movie producer and her Desilu company is responsible for many shows including Star Trek and Mission Impossible. Also, so many shows filmed at their studio including Jack Benny, The Andy Griffith Show, My Three Sons, The Dick Van Dyke Show, Hogan’s Heroes and That Girl. She was the first female powerhouse, which is just one more thing to admire about the amazing Lucille Ball. . ⭐️Craigslist Confessional⭐️ . 💫 Helena Dea Bala💫 . This is the most unique book I have ever read. @helenadeabala was a DC lobbyist, who after eating lunch with a man that pan handled near her office and listened to him effortlessly with no fear or judgement, felt unburdened. She decided to take out an ad on Craigslist to listen for free and anonymously with no judgement. Her email box overflowed with people looking to talk about things they felt they could talk to no one else about. . There are 40 first person accounts in this book covering the topics of love, regret, loss, identity and family. It’s simply fascinating and such a portrait of raw human emotion and paints a picture of human kindness and human weakness, betrayal and forgiveness. This is a true character study. I am participating in a buddy read and we were lucky enough to have the author participate as well and ask her questions. ⭐️On The Way to The Wedding⭐️ . 💫 Julia Quinn💫 . How I adore this series. Let me count the 8 ways. There are eight books in this series and this is the last one. These are historical Romance and features The Bridgerton Family. Each book focused on one of the eight children of the late Viscount Bridgerton and his widow, who I adore. I was totally attached to each of these characters and @juliaquinnauthor brilliantly ties everything up for each of these characters in a way you root for them and come to love this family. . Set in 1800’s England each book focuses on the social season as one of the siblings seek out love, or in some cases avoid love yet find it anyway💕. During the social season there is a gossip column printed in the paper written by Lady Whistledown in true Gossip Girl 1800s style and it is amazing. . What’s even more amazing is this series is an upcoming Netflix show done by the queen herself @shondarhimes and the part of Lady Whistledown will be voiced by ultimate royalty @julieandrews.
