Give Us a Sniff

Baddel hummed to herself as she made a third inventory of their bags, reassuring herself that all their needed belongings were packed away. Checking it off once more, a thought sent the items flying back neatly packed into their bags. It was only a few more hours until they left for their third anniversary trip to Homeworld and the new bathhouse resort they’d booked for the week. 

Already visions of gem polishing sessions and the tender hands of a masseuse Pearl working the kinks out of her form filled the former nun’s head. That and the baths themselves; which the brochure promised had everything for every sort of Gem. Lava baths, sand baths, even water and mud baths for Gems with lower tolerances for temperature.

She was still dreaming of the treatments she’d get when the front door opened, breaking her reverie and signaling that her wife, Black Star, had returned home from the kennel.

“Slow dance with you, I just wanna slow dance with you. I know all the other boys are tough and smooth, and I got the blues.”

Taako gave a bit of a huff. He shouldn’t have got that bent out of shape after what he said to her in the first place.

“Let’s start over, huh?” he said, extending a pale blue hand. “I’m Taako. You are?”

“Oh, you’ve got to be shitting me. Do you realize how that sounds? Not all elves are shoe and toy makers! Nor are they all rangers! I happen to be a highly accomplished chef and wizard, thank you very much!”

“Oh.”

“No~ope!” he said in a sing-song tone. “All elf, baby, and a damn good looking one at that don’t you think?” he said, tossing his blond locks.

Welp, his vanity is showing.
