It had been an exhilarating trip but a fearful one. She had been frightened of the soldiers' eyes on the train, the black wreath on the door, the custard pudding she believed lurked under her mother's heavy dress, the feel of unknown streets and unknown people. But she had gone on a real trip, and now she was different. She got out of bed and lit the lamp to look in the mirror. There was her face, plain brown eyes, three braids and the nose her mother hated. She looked for a long time and suddenly a shiver ran through her. "I'm me," she whispered. "Me." Nel didn't know quite what she meant, but on the other hand she knew exactly what she meant. "I'm me. I'm not their daughter. I'm not Nel. I'm me. Me." Each time she said the word me there was a gathering in her like power, like joy, like fear. Back in bed with her discovery, she stared out the window at the dark leaves of the horse chestnut. "Me," she murmured.

"you couldnt make seinfeld today" you couldve made seinfeld in 45 B.C.
and i've read every fic with a sirella mention in it front to back and sideways btw
but really truly in my heart of hearts i wish we got to see what their relationship looks like when the world isn't shattering around them. rare in the klingon empire i hear but i would like to see it

my goal is literally to write something with a plot one time before i die
:) sirella at the marketssss
what i love about sirella's characterization in that book too is like she thinks soo big picture like nothing is more important than the empire not her family not martok not her own life
also probably she was mad that she had been. imprisoned. doesn't put one in a talking mood does it
martok, who knows sirella doesn't like talking about her private life, in front of two complete strangers holding them prisoner: I KNOW that i slept with her I MESSED UP PLEASE
sirella in the next cell over: i'm gonna kill him i'm gonna kill gothmara then morjod then him in that order

and what gets me about the gothmara and morjod reveal in the left hand of destiny is the scene right after that where sirella's (understandably) deathly silent and martok goes why aren't you talking are you mad that i touched another woman before you? like... obviously yes she is but also sirella virgin bride implication? obvi she was only 21 and i guess worf says the honorable thing to do is mate and take the oath immediately but the klingons we see in the show don't really follow that rule usually... maybe the children of great houses like mogh and linkasa are expected to
captain kaden vestai-oparai and commander arizhel of the imperial klingon ship fire blossom flirting on a diplomatic mission :) <3
that scene from the john m ford book of the klingon officers flirting by trying to remember where and when they got certain scars on their bodies and teasing eachother about the other forgetting. romance is alive and well

“The casting of Sirella pleased Martok actor J.G. Hertzler. He reminisced, “When I heard that Shannon Cochran was going to play her, I said, ‘Perfect!’ because she has a Shakespearean background and I knew we could really feed that into the two characters’ relationship.” Indeed, the portrayal of Sirella’s relationship with Martok was influenced by the connection between Beatrice and Benedick in Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing””
