Hi guys! Sorry for the lack of posting. We recently adopted two chinchillas and a cat from two rescues. I figured since I already have a dog and a cat anyway that I might as well switch this blog from an exclusively tarantula blog to a blog for all of my pets.

Chinchillas are named Lumin (left) and Willow (right) Lumin’s nickname is Lulu and Willow’s nickname is Weewo.

Hi! Thank you for the ask, I’m so sorry for the late response I’ve been going through hell and didn’t even see I had an ask until today, anyway,

MRKs typically get their water and humidity through their water dishes, and heat lamps and heat pads are — at least in my experience from what others in the tarantula community — are typically for Ts whose owners live in colder states during winter. The only time I’ve seen them used in any scenario is for old world species but this also depends on the tarantula.

Advice I’d give to maintain good humidity for your tarantula would be through weekly spraying the walls of their enclosure, or daily misting if that’s what you think they’d need. I’d go by the “if your comfy, they’re comfy” rule as it’s worked for me with Meatball for as long as I’ve had her which has been almost two years now, and she’s doing great and is one happy girl.
