My proper blog is @novelelitist but this one I'm on has been my personal for eons so I'm stuck with it being the primary smh.
controversial post maybe but i think if you don't need a psychiatric evaluation to get breast implants then you shouldn't need one to get top surgery
this is kind of an unrelated rant but i do also think western society has a weird fixation on Breastsâ˘ď¸ like ive heard countless stories of people trying to get breast reductions and the drs refusing to do it or purposefully doing it wrong (ie taking them down to a c-cup when they wanted to be an a-cup) people were legit angry/upset when angelina jolie got her mastectomy as if she'd personally wronged them there is literally a breast cancer foundation called "save the tatas" as though a woman losing her tits is more important than a woman losing her life. making your breasts bigger is fine but making them smaller or (shock horror!) getting rid of them is considered deeply strange. and i think that's why top surgery is viewed as some kind of hideous irrevocable mutilation by so many people, because they have this bizarre need to treat an ordinary body part that approx. 50% of the population has as either public property or a symbol of Divine Womanhood or whatever the fuck. it's so stupid i hate it

It's so hard not to vaguepost in varying social spaces sometimes. I want people that are contributing to me feeling like shit to know what they're doing, and I want to verbally slam certain types of people in different spaces sosososo badly but I know it's not healthy. There's so much I wanna say and scream and crack my skull in over, I'm tired and still angry about having a wellness check called on me last year
I...tried to make a meme and got carried away and made A Thing that is like partially unfinished because i spent like 3 hours on it and then got tired.
I think this is mostly scientifically accurate but truth be told, there seems to be relatively little research on succession in regards to lawns specifically (as opposed to like, pastures). I am not exaggerating how bad they are for biodiversity thoughârecent research has referred to them as "ecological deserts."
Feel free to repost, no need for credit
do you guys want to know one of the coolest things ever btw. i'm going to tell you either way i just like to give you the illusion of choice
when anteaters find an anthill they don't just stick their face in and slurp with reckless abandon. they leave behind enough ants to rebuild the ant society and also don't eat queens. they're not just hunting the ants they are essentially farming them. isn't that the coolest
if you reblog this post without my anteater fact i hate you. it's the most important part.

this headline should be âpolice kill innocent child in reckless firebombingâ
The innocent boyâs name is Brett Rosenau. He was 15 years old, not 14 like some news outlets have reported. Here is a link to donate to his funeral expenses. His father, whom Brett is named after, was shot by police on December 31st, 2006. He was 24 years old and his son was months away from being born.
His mother Amanda Lopez has lost both her partner and son at the hands of police.
Oh this is so much worse than that.
Brett Rosenau
Obligatory image to humanize him
They were looking for a man that had violated his probation when Brett went inside after him.
Police KNEW Brett was in the house, he was hiding (for obvious reasons. His father had been killed by the same police department years earlier at the age of 24). In an attempt to get Brett and the suspect out, they were periodically throwing in flash bangs and smoke grenades.
After one (Thereâs mixed reports on whether it was a flash bang or a smoke grenade) the house was on fire for 40 minutes before the suspect came running out with burn injuries.
The boy was found after the fire was put out, and he died of smoke inhalation. The home owner lost everything including one of their two pet dogs.
The hunt for a wanted man in New Mexico ended with a house fireâand the death of a teenager whose aunt says the family knows a thing or two
Although police were quick to state this week that the younger Rosenau âwas not shot by anyone,â the boyâs death is the latest in many instances of deaths connected to Albuquerque police. In 2014, the Justice Department found Albuquerque cops âengaged in a pattern or practice of excessive force that violates the Constitution and federal law.â
The police are excusing slow response time in dealing with the fire by saying they couldnât tell where the smoke was coming from.
Did I mention that one of the cops that handled the raid was also one of the cops involved of the police killing Brettâs father of the same name?
And let me add, police were throwing in smoke grenades and flash bangs knowing full well that child was inside the house. Imagine how terrifying it was for the kid!

âNobody shot him, we just barricaded him inside and set his house on fire and then let it burn for forty minutes!â

The next installment of The Only Omegaverse Video Essay Ever is up!
Happy 4th of July, let's talk about science and complain about colonialism and how it gave us wolf nuts as a kink. Literary Criticism at its finest.
I grew up with a grandma who quilted, but sheâd never been interested in passing along the hobby, so when she finally kicked it I was the grandkid who got all her materials, âcause I was the only one who knew how to use a sewing machine. Then, in 2015, a friend had a baby and I figured Iâd make her a quilt, âcause how hard could it be?
oh
my
god
Luckily I am the stubbornest human alive, âcause I never woulda finished otherwise. I didnât know what I was doing, didnât know the terms to look up how to do anything, I musta reinvented the wheel like eight times and it took ten months, BUT I DID IT.
Figured Iâd suffered enough and would never do it again and now Iâm on quilt #9 smdh
âââââââââ
Iâm hyperventilating.
Holy shit. Holy SHIT.
This is INCREDIBLE.
Oh my god.
Iâve gotta go lay down holy shit look at this how do we just walk by other human beings every day and live our separate lives when thereâs a person sitting next to you on the train or in line for coffee who goes home and makes things like this what even IS being human holy shit.
GOOD FUCKING JOB.
Oh heck I did not expect the notes to blow up on this, UM
Okay so on a purely technical level, this is not that difficult, you just gotta come at it a little sideways.
The background of this sucker is just rows of 1.5âł-wide fabric strips. I canât remember the exact pattern, but I wanna say it was something like one row 6âł strips, one row 4.5âł strips, one row alternating? I donât remember exactly, it was a while ago. Thatâs not difficult, you just lay it out and sew it all together one row at a time. Itâs not hard, just tedious.
The fish are a lil different. I canât draw, there is a disconnect somewhere and my hands are stupid, so I figured out probably fifteen years ago that tracing was the way to go. For this, I legit just yanked several photos of fancy-looking goldfish off the internet and traced over âem in Photoshop.
Once I had enough, I printed my outlines, laid âem out on the background to create the idea of movement, and then traced the outlines out on fabric and pinned the hell out of âem.
This woulda been WAY easier with Heat âN Bond, but I didnât know that was a thing at the time. From there I just used just about every fancy stitch on my inherited sewing machine to make the fish STAY WHERE I PUT THEM, and also look good.
I have since learned this is called âraw edge appliqueâ but whatever. Itâs fun, itâs neat, you can do it with a bunch of stuff and impress the hell outta people. More recently, itâs how Iâve gone from this:
to this:
(this was another project I SUFFERED over unnecessarily, because Iâm the dip that decided to quilt the waves, like a moron)
god that sucked but it looked SO COOL when I was done!
Iâm very sorry to tell you that if you thought we would be less impressed with you after this update you were very mistaken. Iâll say again:
Holy. Shit.
@awheckery that is absolutely mindbogglingly gorgeous work *___* Also clearly you subscribe to Go Big or Go Home (and cry about stitchery) You are such a Stitch Witch, amazing <3
Aw man, that is the most hilariously accurate assessment of my life; in my fam, if you donât Go Big, did you even try? I am constitutionally incapable of half-assing anything, which is why the goldfish quilt is also, um. a chenille quilt.
The back is plushy as hell and looks like this:
If you look at the front again, you notice those diagonal lines donât go through the fish, and yet cross the entire back. Please donât ask me how I did that. It made me so sad and used so much thread, thereâs at least a mile of thread in this quilt, but bY GOD ITâS SURVIVED FOUR YEARS WITH AN EXUBERANT TODDLER AND ITâS STILL IN ONE PIECE
as the friend with the exuberant toddler who has the honor of having not just this quilt but the matching pillows in her home, i wanna chime in and say that this isÂ
EVEN MORE GORGEOUS AND LOVELY IN PERSON.
AND ITâS WASHABLEÂ
awheckery is too modest to mention it, but the quilt is loaded up with real specific meaning â Iâm Chinese-American, and there are eight goldfish on the quilt and a ninth on an accompanying pillow. Nine is a homophone in Chinese for âalwaysâ, âgoldâ is a metonym for wealth and prosperity, and âfishâ is a homophone for the word for abundance, so putting nine goldfish on something for a new baby is a lovely Chinese way to wish them good luck and abundant prosperity in life. Â
And the pillow shown above is symbolic, too! Youâll notice that the two ships up top. My family is ethnically Han Chinese from Hong Kong, so awheckery put a distinctive Chinese ship up there, and my husband is Norwegian, so thatâs a Norwegian schooner. And then the three whales underneath are me, the husband, and our wee little whale. Â
Please note that I did not know ANY OF THIS WAS COMING. They just FIGURED THIS OUT ON THEIR OWN and by polling friends in our shared fandom, and one day the quilt with the blanket showed up at my house, and I screamed so loud that my husband came running. And then we got the pillows a little bit later, and I may have screamed again.  awheckery is one of the most talented humans I have ever had the pleasure of knowing or meeting. Â
Iâve told OP that if my house is ever on fire, Iâm grabbing the kid and the quilt in that order. The husband can go find our wedding photos. Â
DID I MENTION THIS IS WASHABLEÂ
This post increases my faith in humanity this is so creative and the last explanation of making it specially with a meaning for their friend makes it 10000 better
one of my favorite pigeon pages slaps HRT over all of their photos which im sure is just the page ownerâs initials or something but its funny to think of them as advertising the effects of hormone replacement therapy

Saying âThis research is outdatedâ isnât anti science.
Saying âthis research has too small of a sample size to generalize anything from itâ isnât anti science.
Saying âthis research doesnât say thatâ isnât anti science
Being critical of science is part of the nature of science itself.
