IT'S OCTOBER 3RD
You're still in the ArSen fandom?! I've always been a fan of your art! (on anon bc I'm shy and don't wanna scare you either hhhh)
I'm not particularly active but I do still love Arslan Senki so much ^^ Thank you for enjoying my art! I really appreciate that <3
βYouβre going to do what now!?βAn AU Sitcom of Arslan Senki
This is in relation to this http://heroiclegendofcinnamonroll.tumblr.com/tagged/sitcom+AUΒ created and thought up by @heroiclegendofcinnamonroll I thought Iβd try a crack at it as my first story here on this blog. x3 Though I wonβt be doing the entire thing in one post. Iβm likely going to do multiple episode posts of it (whenever the mood strikes me to write about it). I really hope you like it, Cinnamon Roll. :3
(Just a btw, I spell Hermesβ name as Hilmes since Hilmes is the official spelling as stated by the Kodansha Comics.)
Chapter 1 -Β βRemind me why weβre friends again?β It was late night when Hilmes finally arrived at his childhood friendβs apartment doorstep. A cooing child was under one of his arms, more than happy to be with his cousin though he was held at an awkward angle. Hilmes didnβt even realize he was holding thisβ¦ thing wrong. He attempted at renting a room at a hotel earlier but he had the misfortune of misplacing his wallet and was too proud to go back home after having stormed out with the child he now had under his arm. Why? Because he had also been too prideful of a fool to realize the challenge his father had placed upon him with this kid. Itβs been just six hours and he was already a handful! He took the stairs two at a time to get to Daryunβs door up on the fourth floor of his apartment building. He placed the toddler down who looked around curiously but kept to his cousinβs side because of how dark and scary the hallway was. Hilmes searched frantically for his friendβs key. He had tried to arrive before he knew the man would be asleep but alas, he had spent too much time looking for his wallet earlier and then having to call Bahman to bring it to him the next morning. Next best place to crash and maybe even get information? His childhood friendβs apartment place.
Aha! There was the key. He took it out from the soil of a potted plant outside the doorway and smirked victoriously before finally unlocking the door and opening it up, ushering the toddler inside before closing the door behind him. He then picked up the child under his armpits and hefted him up before moving over to Daryunβs room.Β βDaryun! Daryun, are you awake?!β Hilmes called out.
Daryun was actually just about to go to sleep in order to be ready and wide awake for classes the next morning when heβd heard the lock click on his front door. An eye twitched before he sat up and picked up a baseball bat, moving over to his bedroom door. It didnβt take long for him to figure out just who entered his apartment though because soon after the door clicked closed, a familiar but irritating voice broke out, making him twitch an eyebrow again before placing the bat down and moving out of his room, running into the frantic Hilmes as they slammed their foreheads together. βOW! Hilmes! What the hell is the rush at this late hour!?β Daryun growled, grimacing and holding his forehead, Hilmes, too preoccupied with thoughts to even notice his own pain, held up the child heβd brought with him (though it helped he wore his mask, too).Β βHow do I raise this thing?!β he exasperatedly asked, making Daryun look in surprise at the child.Β βWhat?β he asked, completely baffled as the child giggled at Daryun.Β βYouβs big!β he cooed and clapped his hands, making Daryunβs eyes widen. βWhy in the world do you have a child with you!? And put him down, donβt hold him like that!β Daryun finally said after regaining his thoughts, snatching the child away from him and placing him down on the couch as he moved to turn a light on.
βHis nameβs Arslan and it doesnβt matter what heβs doing with me right now. I just need a place to crash,β Hilmes replied with, making Daryun look at him with a glare as he moved over to the kitchen to make some coffee and get some juice for the toddler.Β βOh no, no you donβt! Youβre not dumping this kid on me, Hilmes,β he replied with, preparing the coffee and pouring a cup of fruit juice for Arslan.Β βIβm not dumping him on you, Daryun! I justβ¦ I just need a place to crash, thatβs all!β Hilmes hmphed, too proud to admit he needed help.
Daryun walked over to Arslan as Hilmes sat down beside his cousin, giving the drink to Arslan who happily sipped at the big mug.Β βIβm not letting you stay here, Hilmes. Go rent a hotel room or something. Youβve got the money for it,β he replied, sitting down on an opposite chairβs arm as he waited for the coffee to brew.
Hilmes gave a scowl, glancing away and around before seeming to get a mischievous idea as he looked at Arslan. After all, his friend would never turn down such an innocent child. Daryun eyed Hilmes, not liking the look on his face and most especially not liking it when he leaned to Arslan and whispered to him.
βHey, Arslanβ¦ my friend Daryun wants to throw us out on the street. Are you going to let him be such a big meanie?β Hilmes whispered to his little cousin, sounding sad to him as Arslan went wide-eyed with fright at Hilmes before looking over at Daryun with little tears in his eyes. βPlease donβt throw us out, Mr. Daryun! Itβs cold and dark outside and really scary!β Arslan whined unhappily, the tears in his eyes becoming more prominent. He didnβt want to think of being out there again! Daryun flinched when Arslan suddenly looked at him the way he did, making him grimace as the kid began to tear up. The fright and sadness that accompanied it tugged at the big manβs heartstrings and an eyebrow twitched.Β βNo, no! Of course not! I wouldnβt think of such a thing. Reallyβ¦ stay as long as you like,β Daryun quickly replied with, not wanting the kid to cry as Arslan immediately smiled happily.Β βThank you, Mr. Daryun!β he hummed brightly, wiping his tears away and sipping his juice again.
Daryun then gave a death glare at Hilmes who was, again, smirking in triumph.Β βFine, Hilmesβ¦. but you are totally owing me after all this is said and done,β he told the man as Hilmes just shrugged, happy to have his victory.
I'm reading about how Israel, in the immediate aftermath of the 1948 Nakba, deliberately replaced olive trees and other indigenous flora with European plants. This ecological disaster, which is now proudly hailed under the banner of 'making the desert bloom,' was done to 'de-Arabize' the landscape, and to cover up - often with fast-growing European pine trees -the ruins of Palestinian villages that were destroyed by Zionists forces.
And I just need everyone to read this passage from PappΓ©, because the symbolism of what happened to those European pine trees in the desert speaks for itself:
The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine, by Ilan PappΓ© (2006, p. 227-228.)
This story really spoke to me.
I've been shying away from making anything based on the attempted genocide happening right now.
But I like this story.
