The very concept of 'voluntary' psychiatric hospitalization is so absurd and laughable to me. No one who has ever been subjected to psychiatric confinement has ever been fully informed of the kind of treatment they will receive in the psych ward. Informed consent does not exist in psychiatry.

so apparently the dsm 6 is being structured around bio-pathologizing mental illness specifically in the direction of biomarkers…if u aren’t concerned about this maybe you should be…

…so they’re now trying to search for “biomarkers”- which are essentially genes, or circumstances of conception/birth/what have you, that can “increase the risk” of mental illnesses. how is this any different from people wondering if there’s a “gay gene?” or autism speaks trying to find a genetic or reproductive “cure for autism?”

it really pisses me off when I tell someone about my experience with lupus psychosis (caused by cerebritis, a form of brain inflammation) and they're like "wow someone should have brought you to the psych ward."

i think thr phemonemon of recovered (even if partially) mentally ill people doing microaggressions to other mentally ill people in the trenches is maybe because they truly forget what its like. these days i actually notice that within myself sometimes and i have to gently grip myself on the shoulders and say "Do Not Forget What It Was Like and say Some fucking Bullshit to people who are Still There."

psychiatry as an industry directly benefits from putting those who participate in an "us vs them" mentality in regards to interactions with other mentally ill people.

Having depression is fun because one of the main symptoms is that you want to kill yourself and one of the side effects of the meds is you want to kill yourself but if you at any point even IMPLY you want to kill yourself to your doctors in charge of making you not want to kill yourself, you are forcibly put in "wanting to kill yourself jail".

Ultimately if they actually cared about reducing it they'd not take away all your autonomy and rights ('cus yknow, not having any freedom whatsoever is a great way to want to kill yourself), but they don't care about that. they care about it not making them look bad to others or making them feel like bad parents, and they will spin it to whatever personal narrative they see fit or profitable. Your kid killed themselves because you were abusing them? They must have been brainwashed online into doing this. I mean fucking hell: Your kid was murdered in a hatecrime by some classmates? This must be because of social media.
