After a certain point of height, being tall stops being beneficial and in fact becomes actively detrimental to countless aspects of your daily life, and it gets worse the taller you get. The world isn’t designed to accommodate people of my height. My back is constantly sore from having to bend over (I try to squat when possible but oftentimes you really have no choice) for every little thing. I’m too tall to fit on my mattress with my legs extended completely. I hit my head on things constantly. The desks at my work’s “open office” setup are impossible for me to use ergonomically comfortably, and I can’t use them as standing desks without squatting. Finding clothes that fit me is a very difficult and miserable experience. I stand out everywhere I go and am always the tallest person in the room. Appliances and sinks are always too short for me to comfortably use. In my car I have to bend over to see the stoplight above at a lot of intersections. This is just a glimpse into the way being tall is frustrating at best, and makes things significantly harder at worst.

Someone once said in the tags of one of my posts that being super tall is basically a disability. At first I thought that was maybe a bit of an extreme statement, but the more I think about it and the more I suffer the consequences from living my whole life in a world that isn’t designed to accommodate people like me, the more I think that might not be such an exaggeration after all.

Basically what I’m saying is this. If you’re lucky enough to have a tall girl in your life, try to keep her struggles in mind and do what you can to help. Also maybe offer to give her a back massage or something
