Also check out Matt Fraction's Fantastic Four and FF runs. His Fantastic Four run features Reed (and later Sue) hiding the fact that the Fantastic Four are being killed by their powers, which begin to fail them. Notable for the scene where Johnny, who can't stop burning, is impaled on a piece of metal and has to be stitched up using Sue's forcefields to keep him from bleeding out. FF features Old John Storm, a traumatized version of Johnny from an alternate universe. Both are good for Johnny whump.

I'm going to go ahead and blanket rec Johnny's Strange Tales era, which is Strange Tales #101-134 and Strange Tales Annual #2. (This is Johnny and Peter's first official teamup.) Not every issue features Johnny getting injured, but a very common formula in it is "Johnny Storm, America's sweetheart, gets in some kind of trouble and needs help/manages to rescue himself/nobly tries to sacrifice himself." It's very fun. Johnny gets tied to the railroad tracks! Johnny gets tied to a street sign! Johnny... gets tied to a porpoise. I especially recommend Strange Tales #112: Johnny nearly dies absorbing the explosion of a dirty bomb. Very classic "everyone thinks The Character is a vapid showoff until The Character nobly sacrifices themselves to Save the Town and then everyone regrets their harsh opinions and cries about it."

Fantastic Four #25-26: Despite being seriously injured, Johnny joins the others in fighting the Hulk.

Fantastic Four #170: Johnny is injured in a fight.

Fantastic Four #191-193: This is more on the emotional hurt side of things, although Johnny is also injured at the beginning. When the Fantastic Four split up, Johnny's at a loss emotionally. Reunited with his best friend and college roommate Wyatt Wingfoot, their mutual friend racecar driver Rebecca Rainbow worries Johnny might hurt himself. (P.S. Bring back Rebecca Rainbow.)

Fantastic Four #244: Following his girlfriend Frankie Raye's decision to leave Earth and become Galactus' new herald, Johnny goes missing for days only to collapse on Frankie's roommate's sofa. Again, this is more emotional hurt, although he is in bad physical condition when Sue and Reed go to find him.

Fantastic Four #263-264: Johnny is kidnapped by a billionaire theme park owner who is Definitely Not Walt Disney At All and forced to go nova over and over for his plans.

Fantastic Four #296: Blaming Johnny for Ben's suffering, the Mole Man attempts to permanently disfigure him.

Fantastic Four #337-338: Possessed by a mysterious blue woman, Johnny experiences debilitating pain.

Fantastic Four 2099 #3: Johnny gets shot and has to cauterize his own wounds.

Fantastic Four v3 #35: Johnny is captured when Diablo invades Pier Four.

Fantastic Four v3 #63-64: An explosion temporarily deafens and blinds Johnny. Later, he's knocked unconscious when he and Ben are buried under the rubble of a building.

Fantastic Four v3 #69, Fantastic Four #501: These issues are very close together, renumbering is just lying to you. While trying to rescue Franklin, Johnny is badly burned by hellfire. The experience shakes him badly.

Fantastic Four #508-509: Ben is possessed by Doctor Doom, who attempts to kill Johnny, with tragic consequences.

Civil War #1-2, Fantastic Four #538: Johnny is badly beaten by a crowd of civilians and hospitalized following the Stanford Incident.

Fantastic Four #559-561: Johnny is kidnapped by his one time fling Psionics and a mysterious crew of figures from the future and used as a Galactus battery.

Dark Reign: Zodiac #1: I feel remiss in not mentioning this, especially since there's been conversation around it recently, but I don't actually recommend this comic. I think it's an unpleasant read, to say the least, but you asked for injured Johnny content, and it does fit the bill. Johnny is attacked and badly beaten by Zodiac, rendering him hospitalized. CW for homophobia and what is at the very least if not flat out implied then a metaphor for sexual assault.

The Negative Zone (Fantastic Four #587, #600): When people talk about the Negative Zone in relation to Johnny, they are talking about a very specific incident in Jonathan Hickman's run where Johnny purposefully seals himself in the Negative Zone to save Ben and the kids. Trapped for two years, Johnny is repeatedly killed and resurrected while being forced to fight in Annihilus' gladiator battles. While technically you can get the whole story from #587 and #588, I recommend reading Hickman's Fantastic Four run up #604 and his FF run from #1-16. (#17 is the Spideytorch roommates issue, which is a delight, but not exactly heavy on the hurt.) More on the emotional hurt side of things, although he does get thrown around a lot, I also recommend Annihilation Scourge: Fantastic Four.

Uncanny Avengers #18-20: Uncanny Avengers has a couple good examples of hurt!Johnny, but I'm going to single out the time he was possessed by the Red Skull, who threatened to kill him in front of Spider-Man.

Amazing Spider-Man #799-800: Johnny is attacked by the Red Goblin and injured.

Refusing to acknowledge the existence of the State of Israel doesn’t materially change the reality that Israel is a sovereign nation with over ten million citizens. When leftists in the west chant “from the river to the sea” and “we don’t want no two states”, regardless of the intention, what do you think Israelis hear? What do you think a people that has faced genocide in living memory, from which our population still has not recovered, gets from that? We don’t hear it and consider your points, we hear it and remember all of the times Israel has been attacked with genocidal intent, and only survived through our own defense.

And what does this ultimately result it? It results in Israelis who no longer believe in the peace process. It results in Israelis who feel a visceral sense of fear which leads to doubling down on national security. It leads to diaspora Jews feeling unsafe in their communities and immigrating to Israel.

you get to barbeque, eat good food, do fireworks and sparklers, dress in unnecessarily patriotic clothes, and most of all, make fun of the british. why would you want to just sit at home moping about america being bad when you could be doing all that? idkidk seems kinda stupid to me.

I loved going to Prospect Park in Brooklyn as a kid and seeing Hasidic families eat kosher hot dogs right next to halal barbeque pits. I loved hearing people speaking Yiddish, Arabic, Haitian Creole, Spanish, and English in one space, all celebrating side by side.

Every year, the Fourth has meant everything from celebrating that my family was granted refuge in early 1900's Brooklyn to my cousin recently being granted US citizenship.

Like, if people who think they're being righteous had any recent immigrant friends or family at all, they would know that people who just came here really don't want to hear griping about a perfectly good holiday.

& Even when I lived in Japan, it was so much fun to gather my two (2) American friends and go to the one (1) place in my town that sold American-style beef hot dogs (it was literally a vendor in an old samurai house) and then set off sparklers by the riverside.

It's a nice holiday!

And when I was a very earnest kid and cared a lot about history, I would personally read stuff like Frederick Douglass's "What to the Slave Is the Fourth of July?" and Born on the Fourth of July during the day, then go set off fireworks and eat watermelon at night. My mom spent yesterday morning watching a bummer documentary about Project 2025 and urging all her boomer friends to vote, and then she chowed down on a burger. You can/should do both!!

P.P.S. It makes me think about how Muslims fasting during Ramadan is a communal event; it's considered better to break the fast with company than alone (ditto for fasting in Judaism). For a month each year, almost 2 billion people around the world are united by that fasting.

By contrast, Lent for Catholics, at least in the US, is much more of an individualistic self-improvement project.

There's not a lot of value placed on community in general in the West.
