I've been gifted a week off school so I've been just writing these past few days and i've birthed this chapter as a result of that

this is my second longest chapter yet since i've decided to combine chapters 12 and 13 but i'm actually very happy with that choice because i think it flows much better now

I don't have much to say other than enjoy!

[CHAPTER 9 UPDATE] "he chased me, and he wouldn't stop"

Will’s eyes flicked down again, then back up, holding Mike’s gaze for a second longer this time. “You’re allowed to be scared, you know,” he said. “The bravest are the ones with fear, isn’t that right, Paladin?”

He felt Mike’s hand going still around his own, for a second his best friend just stared at him. Then a breath broke out of him– half laugh, half something else. “You…” Mike shook his head once, a sound catching in his chest. “You remember that?"

“I used to say that to you,” he muttered. “Whenever you had to go home and he was still there,” his brows furrowed, his thumb moved absently over the back of Will’s hand, the motion slow, unconscious. “I didn’t even know if that was true,” Mike admitted, voice rough. “I just didn’t want you thinking you were weak.”
