Characters can have barriers. Those carefully-constructed walls that are built deep inside their own heads, hiding certain parts of their being from others and even themselves. These barriers are not easy to break down. They need to be torn down, ripped apart, or – much more rarely – you need to ask for a glimpse. It is not easy to see through them. You will not immediately be the one exception to the rule; you’ll need to earn that title. Please keep this in mind. 

Superpower meltdowns. In a fit of rage or sorrow or even ecstasy, a person’s power erupts, leaving them to rely on others to calm them.

It’s about rage, it’s about obsession, it’s about making that two-person war your entire raison d’être. It’s about loving and mistaking it for hatred and loving and loving and loving to the point of destruction. His or yours, it doesn’t matter. And you think seeing him dead at your feet will make you feel better, but all you feel is a whole lot of nothing.

In love with the concept of characters with insanely specific moral compasses. Like those who’ll kill people all day but be kind to animals, or torturers who refuse to work on women and children, fighters who are willing to maim but not kill their opponents, vigilantes who will finish an opponent off if asked but won’t kick them when they’re down, righteous people who will happily kill but would stop someone from committing suicide, robbers who refuse to steal from old or disabled people, hooligans who’ll shoplift but not jaywalk, enforcers who’ll rough people up but protect someone being assaulted, just people with lines they won’t cross that feel sort of arbitrary considering what else they’re perfectly fine doing.
