we don’t talk enough about how intimate of a gesture the Forehead Touch (tm) is. theo reaching out first, overwhelmed, close to tears of relief and fascination- reaching out without looking, desperate to touch, we did it, you did it (for me?!). boris looking at the bird then at him, so much love in his eyes, so much gentleness, i know how much it means to you but do you know how much you mean to me? grabbing his neck as theo pulls him closer, hand shifting to his back- they both closing their eyes, boris smiling so wide it hurts his cheeks- and theo leans down and they press their foreheads together and they breathe in the air between them, eyes squeezed shut, holding onto each other for dear life, almost bunny-kissing but not quite; boris’ fingers twitching on theo’s nape as they sigh into each other and finally pull apart, tenderness and pain and love in their eyes, but we both knew well enough
